I built the Revell 928 as a teenager. I remember it as a nice kit other than too thick, dark tinted windows.

AMT 1964 Lincoln Convertible Annual
Eric Macleod replied to RDean58's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Interesting that this kit has an under dash a/c when you could order the 1:1with a factory unit. While the Mark II had a rear vent style a/c in 56-57 by '60 the a/c was in the dash. It sounds like a neat set of extras either way. I'll watch the build up of this one with interest. -
It be nice to see these 5 out again

That's too bad about the Nova. I would love one of those. We can hope though, right? -
I am really looking forward to seeing the Dann Tier treatment on this model.

I just read through this thread. I kept thinking to myself, "my god this is amazing." Your skills are breathtaking. -
I've never seen one of these before. It looks great. Thanks for posting it.

Wow Stan, that looks spectacular. I am impressed. While I wouldn't have thought of blue, I can't deny that it looks exceptional. This is one I would be proud to own. Eric

David, Your work continues to impress. I agree that while a great deal of effort was invested in this project, it made a tremendous difference. One would be hard pressed to know the before and after are the same model. Well done! Eric

Me too. I keep getting outbid on one of these. This will be interesting!

I went ahead and made the chop to the windshield them compared the fit to the top. Lo and behold, it seemed to fit better. I think I'm going to leave it just as it is. Man, oh man, does my accent striping look terrible in the photos! Obviously, there is more work to be done to clean them up.

Once upon a time there was a question on this forum asking us which kit we would choose to build if we could only build one. This kit would be my choice, hands down. I have probably built this kit more than any other, but never as well as this. Can you tell us about the hand nuts you made for the camshaft covers. They look great. Very nice model overall that was nicely photographed. Thanks for posting it.

It isn't my best paint job but I found the bodywork was literally flaking off. I had to decide between starting over completely or pressing on. So...we press on, significant warts and all.
-
I finished the blue paint on the body. Next I will fit the windshield and top. I did a mockup of the car last night and find myself thinking that both the windshield and top need a bit of a chop as the whole car looks a little top heavy to me. Here it is pre-chop.

1949 VW Hebmuller (working front suspension)
Eric Macleod replied to stitchdup's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I will certainly be following your progress on this one. Where did you get the transkit? -
I can't believe I missed this one also. It really looks good. I'll have to buy this kit and take a crack at it myself, though I doubt I could ever build one this well.
-
I don't know how I missed this one but it is absolutely fabulous.

Original AMT 1965 Lincoln Hardtop Review
Eric Macleod replied to RDean58's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The reason was pretty simple.: cost. The retractable window mechanism was complicated and costly. Each mechanism of the convertible was adjusted by hand whereas the windows of the sedan were pretty much of a bolt in and was far less troublesome. Looking back the sedans are nearly as desirable as convertibles largely because of the complexity of the convertible top and window mechanisms. -
Original AMT 1965 Lincoln Hardtop Review
Eric Macleod replied to RDean58's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Actually, Lincoln did offer a true hardtop in '61. As far as anyone can tell, a whopping 4 cars were made. The theory circulating in the Lincoln collector's world was these cars were build for high, high end executives or huge volume dealers. At least two of these cars have survived and have made the rounds at concours events. -
That was my impression. The reason I ask is that the carpet in a stock version should be the same (or very similar) as the upholstery color. I have had some luck both in 1:25 and in 1:1 scale simply painting the carpet. This comment is strickly in the for whatever it is worth department as I really like the build thus far. Please keep us posted on the build.

Obviously there is a lot mor work to be done with the accent painting but in this mockup you can start to see a Cord L-29 emerging. Lots more to do but I am beginning to think it will cross the finish line someday.

Just out of curiosity, how close to stock do you want these to be? I like what I am seeing so far.
