WOW I wanted to attend. But with just moving to the area. it simply wasn't going to happen

Thank, I guess so. I know I no longer use the instructions. Although I rarely use the instructions much on any kit anyway. Advantage of being a mechanic I guess. I know cars pretty well and know the difference between a master cyl and wiper motor. This is probably one of my top 2 or 3 favorite kits to build. And I think Revell really nailed it when 1st produced ( other than the tires ) I do have decals to do maybe another 4 or 5 more . But don't think I have enough kits on hand. I can say for 100% certainty the wheels on this one is nothing but the pen. Simply pushed it down to really let the ink flow into the smallest crevices and they look killer. REALLY close to rims on a kit chrome tree . Again, no clear top coat

Thanks, If by chance I get the opportunity to get them unboxed for display. I'll ck to see which one is BMF and which is the pen and maybe do a comparison side by side I will say even after several months you have to be aware of how you handle them. the chrome done via the pen will still leave a fingerprint in it. Now,,,,Nothing like as if done only a few days earlier ( made that mistake as well ) and although its extremely faint I could see it up close . And easy fix was go back over it with the pen . Now over a year into it, I dont remember any smudge issues when handling . None of them were cleared over chrome.

Agreed, 100% If we all liked the exact same thing. the world would be a very VERY boring place

I built a few thunderbolts going on close to 2 years ago. One of them all the trim is the pen. On a 2nd one only part of the trim is the pen. Problem is I cant remember which one is which. and All are packed up at the moment and will be for the foreseeable immediate future . When I boxed them up a few weeks back, all still looked great

its free world in both a sellers and buyers mind. I don't care how a seller determines is asking price. Nor do I care if it sells or not. If its worth said price to me. I'll buy. If not I'll wait ( patience is key here ) And I am more than capable to make up my own mind as to how much a part/kit / or anything else for that matter. Is worth TO ME and me alone. Will I over pay for a part I need ? depends on the part and where the subject build is in my long term plane to start said project ( over paying is defined on a person by person / needs basis ) As an example, I had been wanting a clean Johan 1969 GTX for quite a while , I wanted to stay under $100 for one. And as time marched on i was finding my budget simply was not going to get it done. I finally bought one about a year and half ago, I pulled the trigger and bought one in the box for about $125 . Since that time, Ive bought 2 more. and I think I have less than $100 in them both, ( Weird how life works out isnt it ) I was recently offered a super clean Johan 1970 Roadrunner. Price was on the very top end of what I consider the market is at , at the moment ( at least from what I can see see on ebay as an example ) If I didn't already have one ( although mine needs some repairs ) I may have given it some serious thoughts to purchase or made an offer on it at the least ). Had he priced it at the lower end of MY scale as for value ( $100 range ) . I would have bought it . And as for seller Floyd426RT, ( aka Larry Rose ) I heard from a mutual friend of ours yesterday. Larry is fine,,,. he is a real estate agent by profession and simply far to busy to worry with model kits at this time. He sold everything to a friend of mine and got out of it. -

gtx6970 replied to Spitfire's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Same here I have 2 cases. Both about 4 foot wide, one is almost 5 ft tall, the other is right at 4 ft tall . Both have glass fronts . Both are packed full. Need to get another one. but that will have to wait till we get the house built and I get a dedicated room for them all -
I've seen a few other pics of the SS car, but not many. Paper Tiger I was the 2 door hardtop car , this sedan became Paper Tiger II and is the one that still exists today Paper Tiger I is believed to have been junked many many years ago. At least that is was I was told many several years ago

The 67 can be a little tough to come up with, not as cheap as the 68 and later either -

If You Could Only Have One?
gtx6970 replied to jaxenro's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Tough call. I dont think I can do it honestly. Because once it was done I would be bored chitless. But If only one. I think it would have to be either the Johan 1969 GTX or Johan 1970 Roadrunner. ( used to own the 1/1 cars and have the kits I need to replicate my old cars ) If I had to build the exact same kit over and over. It would come down to the Revell Thunderbolt or Lindberg 64 Dodge ( maybe the 64 Plymouth variant) Determining factor would be aftermarket support for different decals. Ive got a pretty good start on these, Have 6 T bolts done and I think 5 or 6 Lindberg Mopar kits . Plus several unbelts of each stashed away -

You may be right. I keep thinking that after my post earlier. I am trying to confirm one way or the other will post my findings Until then https://racehemi.maxwedge.com/ Here is the Race Hemi pkg componnents 1964 Max Wedge Lightweight Package In 1964 the light weight was expanded to include more items of a light weight nature to further reduce front end weight on these cars. Below is the list of items as described in a Chrysler letter to Dodge dealers on October 3, 1963. This original letter is included in Darrell Davis's "Complete Guide to the 1964 Dodge Ramcharger and Hemi Charger Package." These parts are listed in the Chrysler letter as: 1. Aluminum hood with air scoop 2. Aluminum front fenders 3. Aluminum front bumper and bumper supports, decals to be affixed to front bumper warning against use of bumper jack 4. Aluminum radiator air shield 5. Aluminum radiator crossbar hood lock vertical support brace 6. No undercoating 7. "Spray-on deadener" will be deleted from entire car 8. Front and rear floor carpets will be without jute backing 9. Dash liners will be omitted 10. Cowl side panel silencer pads will be omitted This light weight package was not available on the cars equipped with 11 to 1 compression ratio. It is also noted the standard rear axle gear ration with the lightweight package was 4.56 to 1 whereas the 11 to 1 cars came standard with 3.91 to 1 ratio. Although it was not mentioned as a lightweight feature in any of the documents I have found, the steel fan blade used on the clutch fan assembly was replaced with an aluminum bladed fan with a steel hub. I do not have any paperwork that says the Stage III used this aluminum fan before the A-864 Race Hemi engine but it has been suggested by other sources that the stage III was the first. Again if anyone has paperwork that sets the facts in stone I would love to see a copy. 1964 Race Hemi Lightweight Package When the Race Hemi package cars came out in April of 1964 the package included all of the light weight features that came on the 1964 Max Wedge light weight package. There were also new items added to the above list to further reduce the front end weight of these cars. I do not have a copy of the letter but there was a letter sent to NHRA in March of 1964 detailing the list of additional features added to the Race Hemi cars. They included the following: 1. Light weight thin steel front bumper with aluminum mounting brackets 2. Single headlight grill assembly 3. "Hemi" style larger aluminum hood air scoop 4. Removal of hood hinges, to be replaced with hood pinning posts and hood pins 5. Aluminum doors without arm rest pads and aluminum door hinges 6. "Light weight" bucket seats and aluminum mounting brackets 7. Removal of the entire back seat, to be replaced with additional carpet without jute backing 8. Glass - "Light weight-Corning brand" door and quarter window side glass with quarter window to be affixed in up/closed position. Thin "glass" rear window with special gasket. 9. A larger trunk mounted battery (very heavy), to be placed at the very right rear of the trunk. 10. A special single exhaust system was installed on the 330 two door sedan (post) cars with the muffler mounted side to side just forward of the rear bumper.
