  1. My original MPC. went a slight different path besides stock
  2. IMO . this one has a better / more accurate body than the Revell does. Now if it just had the right grille inserts Does this newest version have the non 500 rear window in it now ?
  3. I wouldn't bother with a promo fixer.,,,unless it was super cheap Decent re-builder MPC kits are not real hateful. ,,,not dirt cheap mind you . But not terrible. They will usually sell for about double retail on the revell version. Just keep an eye out on eBay I've passed over a few for under $35 as I already have a couple back piled I bought years ago
  4. excellent choice. Actual color is called EE1 dark blue poly The one I did. and the actual car it replicates
  5. Your both right. The scoops are much too exaggerated compared to the 1/1 And yes the 70 is MUCH better, but still not 100%
  6. Thanks, I used to have several S+M cars. but for some reason felt compelled to sell them several years ago. ( one of those duh moments I guess ) And have not built any replacements. To think of it, I think the ONLY S+M car I have in the case is an old Built 69 Roadrunner and a 73 Duster buildup Ive got A Landy 68 Charger ( built from the original MPC annual ) and a Landy 65 AFX . Also have the Butch Leal Duster and his AFX car as well
  7. Very nice, Im not a real big fan of this body style Lincoln.but, this sure makes me want to build one of them
  8. Got my AMT 1961 Ford F100 in the mail today. REALLY nice piece and will be an easy one to redo, somewhere down the line. All emblems intact and crisp. Even the tiny little hood chrome trim pieces are there. I don't have to go looking for anything for this one. Even came with the original trailer and all in the original box
  9. I like Dave Kindigs stuff Foose, not so much
  10. Yes, you can use the Lindberg chassis under the Johan body with a little bit of trimming.
  11. For hang on parts to fit. You need to know whats is based on. Lindberg interior will not fit a johan body without a huge amount of work. same goes for grill / bumpers / tail lights etc The old R+R Vacuum craft body is Johan based. ( IMO the better of the 2 ) the recent Jimmy Flinstone body is Lindberg based Ive been told MCW also does/did make a 1964 Plymouth sedan body. Ive never seen one but only assume its Lindberg based But , yes the recent issued so called 'AMT' kits are old Lindberg tools
  12. Gonna depend on if the body based on a Lindbergh kit or an old johan kit
  13. it can work. My younger brother and his wife have had this exact same relationship since they got married ( got be close to 30 years now ) To the best of my knowledge,,, They have no qualms about money. I know they both are pretty frugal when it comes to buying anything. So that may be a factor.
  14. Same here My wife makes CONSIDERABLY more then I do , or ever have. But I typically buy what I want , when I want it. Its extremely rare I catch grief for anything I buy,,,, toys or otherwise Case in point , bought an AR15 about 6 - 8 weeks ago without so much as a whisper Bought momma a glock 380 that evening as well. But mine was quite a bit more $$$ than hers was. She asked how much then in next breath said sure. God I love my wife Savings account took a hit that day for sure . But its recovered ok And btw, I wear the pants in this household.Wife just tells me which ones .... lol
  15. Ditto I have zero issues with criticisms , as long as its done with tact. Just Don't talk down to me or criticize my build just because ' you think' your better than I am Another way to look at a build in process thread is , you would be amazed what you see on the computer screen that you didn't see before. Trust me . It happens to me just about every model I build
  16. My Landy Dart conversion. I started this right before the actual 1968 kit came out. My body was already done, so all I had to use were the grill and tail lights from the newer kit Drilled a very small hole in the body. inserted and super glued aluminum tubing in from the backside. Polished the exposed tubing then filled it with elmers glue and painted that with testors stop light red . It looks SO much better then smooth decals , IMO I can get better / closeups pics if needed
  17. modern kits. I'll buy sealed or open . It makes no difference Vintage kits I prefer to buy opened, that way I can verify the contents are what they're supposed to be . A few years back ( about 10 or more actually ) I went against my usual chain of thought and bought a sealed Barry Setzer vega funnycar. it was cheap compared to others I was seeing at the time. Within minutes of its arrival it was opened up. All was dead mint inside. On the shelf it went and will remain there in that condition till I no longer breathe air . its one of these kits I had as much younger me and have zero interest to build it. I bought several builders to actually build one for the case about 15 years ago. I bought a factory sealed Color Me Gone 1968 Charger. I paid for it ( stupid expensive and I thought my wife was gonna kill me, but that's another story ) But I opened it right in front of the guy. and I thought he was gonna have a stroke that I opened it
  18. This is what I did to turn a recall 69 Dart into a 68 (before the actual 68 came out) Pics tomorrow.
  19. Thats the way its molded. 1969 body and they give you decals to replicate the 68 side markers. otherwise there is zero difference between 68 and 69 , including the hood
  20. Yep, Been several times I've just had to mention I had the coupon. Cashier deducted it with a key stroke
  21. Looks like chrome on a sport fury as well Poke around here and find all kinds of info on the early cars http://www.1962to1965mopar.ornocar.com/welcome.html http://www.1962to1965mopar.ornocar.com/comstockj63p2.html
  22. I'll be honest. it might depend on trim level. Belvedere may be int color, where as a Sport Fury might be chrome. ,,or vice versa These are both guesses on my part. as I am not 100% familiar with these early cars as well as later sixties cars
  23. I guess if you flip it over , it becomes a house boat
  24. I think the chrome A pillars ended in 1967.. 1968 and later had hard molded plastic A pillar trim pieces that were interior color
