  1. I really need to actually sit down and send him some pieces to be plated.
  2. Thanks all. Both of these as well as 2 others were finished some time ago This kit is easily one of my absolute favorite kits to build
  3. My opinion is based on a couple things. This forum ( as well as other forums ) Car shows - swap meets ( both model and 1/1 ) and simply looking around while browsing the toy/ modeling isle in stores and hobby shops. The remote control isle is much busier in most cases The younger age is simply NOT flocking to the model bench in droves like when I was younger
  4. Dying ? Maybe not. But definitely on a downward trend. I can see it spiraling down even more , especially in the next 20 or 30 years. Look around fellas ,,,, We aint getting any younger folks. Look around at any Model show/swap meet. Or even 1.1 car shows/swap meets for that matter. There is definitely more grey hears than there used to be. Not many young guns in the modeling world . Some of the 1/1 shows have actually created a class targeted specifically at the younger crowd. Mopar Nats calls it Young Guns And as far as I know it does quite well. But, I dont care really. Even if every model kit manufacturer closed up shop today. I have more than enough to keep me busy till I'm 6 ft under. My family has said any builts will stay in the family and passed on . Any unbuilts will go away in one way or another.
  5. Same here. I have all the original issue MPC kits( a coupel of them I have duplicates ) I used to collect dealer Promos but never had an opportunity to get a RT vert promo in a reasonable budget. I sold my collection a dealer about a year or so ago
  6. Sad reality is. 30 years ago you probably could have bought an original 70 or 71 for about the same money you paid for this one today. I know a friend of mine paid 30k for an original 1970 Hemi Cuda. and groaned about it ( early - mid 80s time frame ) Now he wishes he had went ahead and paid up a little more for an original drop top. At that time they were still under $100K. Now ,,,not so much
  7. Anyone dare to take a guess how much these pull. its rare to find ONE of these, but to find all 3 in there avail colors is extremely difficult. So here is your chance to fill that hole in your Mopar promo collection. The green one is the easiest to find, followed by the yellow. The red is hands down the hardest one to find of this particular car. Not mine or do I know the seller. btw I'll take a guess they pull over $5k between the 3 , maybe $6k. Although I could see the red one pull $3k by itself In the Mopar promo world these are most collectors holy grail https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.TRS5&_nkw=1969+Dodge+Coronet+R%2FT+Convertible+Promo&_sacat=0
  8. Only if they have something I want and I dont have and want to build at some point. otherwise,,,,,,,, Nope
  9. Steve, I hope you didn't take this as a personal jab at you (trust me, it wasn't honest ) it was more a generalization of the hobby as a whole . Take the current Moebius 1965 Plymouth. With the leading edge of the roof looks like it has a fat upper upper lip. Or the Revell 1970 Cuda with its exaggerated wheel lip moldings. I may try to fix such issues if I feel the need . BUT,,,,, As Ive grown older Ive learned to accept faults with most kits today and move on , especially if its a subject i like. And being a huge fan of the early 60s super stocks I have loads of the this particular model. With zero intentions of ever fixing said inaccuracies. Kudos to those who do though.
  10. Same here. Many years ago I strived to achieve as much detail as I could on a build. As I've grown older . I've come to realize. I have to just build them .....and move on. It's not like I display then bottom side up anyway. I like looking at other people's build with lots of detail. I just no longer feel the need to do it on my own anymore.
  11. IMO,,,, No model kit is perfect. Someone can find fault in ANY kit. To me the biggest issue this kit has is the cowl area at the base of the windshield is bowed up to much. Otherwise I personally don't see much issue with it. I look in my display case and see a decent representation of a 1964 Dodge 2 door sedan . And for that I call it good
  12. Just an FYI, A 1971 Gran Coupe does not have the fender gills like a Cuda does.
  13. Nice, very nice Ive got the 1962 car done. Haven't done the other one ,,,YET
  14. We think A LOT alike . Being a product of the late fifties myself . I tend to gravitate to the cars of that time frame . And I would gladly pay $50 or so for a NICE kit . ( God knows Ive paid for more than that for a good portion of my stash as it is ) pm coming btw
  15. You already know I like them. Nice
  16. In all honesty, I don't remember for certainty. I know I have the Fugitive, the Butch Leal car. We are planning a cross country move early this summer. so about all my model stuff is packed up or about to be in prep for said move. Jacks decals are sweet. You will not be dis-appointed
  17. Thanks. I have 6 built so far. Maybe enough kits and decals to do maybe 3 or 4 more. It is hands down my favorite kit of modern times
  18. not entirely true. builders pop up for sale fairly regularly. And USUALLY sell for similar money to the Modelhaus resin kit. I have a really clean builtup and dont have anywhere near invested in it the Modelhaus kit was ( just bought it last summer off Ebay .) Actually I have 1 - 1968 Coronet hardtop. 3 - 1968 RT convertibles 1- each of the 1969 Coronet in hardtop and convertible versions All but one of the 68 convertibles were bought in the last year or so and none were over $100 ea
  19. Agreed, Ive been thinking I need to do this one as well.
  20. Thanks fellas I have builders of both the 1959 and 1960 Johan annuals. Plus I have all the AMT/SMP 1958 annuals so it seems only fitting to add one more( like I really NEED one more ) I'm not against paying up just a tad to get the Johan version . But for the prices I seem them today on ebay,,,I'll pass completely . Although I would prefer a convertible,,,,,, I would take the more accurate Johan to keep it 1.25th ,,,,even if its 4 door. Resin is not my 1st choice ,,,not matter the scale or body style. Anyone got one they are thinking to cut loose any time soon? ps, wasn't there a Revell kit that had a multi piece body ? Comments good bad or what .
  21. Ive found Imii, Heller and Amex , may be all the same kit just reboxed ? Plus the old Johan promo kit ( which would be my 1st choice if the price were comparable)
  22. Not today, but a few days ago saw a really nice looking 1960 Chrysler New Yorker . .
  23. Guys, Im thinking I need a 1958 Cadillac kit in the pile . Question is , WHICH one is the better option Id prefer 1.25th. but if 1.24th is my only option. I may go that route
