  1. Thunderbolt is considerably shorter. I think it was missing link made this car in sedan body style. There was a plastic kit made back then ( maybe a promo ) ,,,only needs the sedan window frames added ( I have one to do just that )
  2. Gotcha. And I have NO DOUBTS you have the skils to and will pull this off I gots to admit. Ive never been a huge fan of LSR cars. But this thing is wicked cool. Love the cockpit design
  3. they can be great for a less expensive alternative for subject matter . A 1970 GTO is one. usually can find a distressed promo much cheaper than an original kit. Same goes for a 1968 Olds 442 or Johan 69 or 70 GTX .
  4. Lovin this one. BUT IMO the wheel fairings need to extend down a little farther.
  5. EXACTLY For an example. Take the original MPC 1970 Cuda kit. Body proportions were nearly dead on.,,,although the chassis and engine compartment details left a lot to be desired to many. Compared to the current Revell 1970 Cuda and no one can tell me that the older MPC kit just doesnt 'look' better
  6. Missing Link makes these in resin. And they are pretty nice . I have a set to use on a build to replicate a good friends actual 1967 Coronet RT
  7. Yes to all the above
  8. WOW< Impressive is an understatement .
  9. Exactly. Ive never understood the hash and rehash of a kit because it has a simple chassis under it. Do you display builds with the bottom side up? Are contests your primary reason to build ? if so then costs are not a factor . I would be willing to bet a vast majority of builders could care less what the bottom side looks like once completed.( within a reasonable effort ) I know I don't . I build for me and me alone. Once done and in my display case no one will see them except family and visiting friends . But I get to admire them , dust them and simply enjoy them anytime I want. Maybe even sit them on the table and make Vroom Vroom noises once in a while........ Life is good . One has to remember its a RE_ISSUE of a kit designed in the 60s or maybe early 70s nothing more , nothing less. So build it , enjoy it , be glad we have replicas of kits from our youth,,,no matter how simplified they are . Carry on
  10. I know someone is or at least did make these. But for the life of me I cant remember ,,who I need a set in white as shown and also a set in black
  11. I really need to actually sit down and send him some pieces to be plated.
  12. Thanks all. Both of these as well as 2 others were finished some time ago This kit is easily one of my absolute favorite kits to build
  13. My opinion is based on a couple things. This forum ( as well as other forums ) Car shows - swap meets ( both model and 1/1 ) and simply looking around while browsing the toy/ modeling isle in stores and hobby shops. The remote control isle is much busier in most cases The younger age is simply NOT flocking to the model bench in droves like when I was younger
  14. Dying ? Maybe not. But definitely on a downward trend. I can see it spiraling down even more , especially in the next 20 or 30 years. Look around fellas ,,,, We aint getting any younger folks. Look around at any Model show/swap meet. Or even 1.1 car shows/swap meets for that matter. There is definitely more grey hears than there used to be. Not many young guns in the modeling world . Some of the 1/1 shows have actually created a class targeted specifically at the younger crowd. Mopar Nats calls it Young Guns And as far as I know it does quite well. But, I dont care really. Even if every model kit manufacturer closed up shop today. I have more than enough to keep me busy till I'm 6 ft under. My family has said any builts will stay in the family and passed on . Any unbuilts will go away in one way or another.
  15. Same here. I have all the original issue MPC kits( a coupel of them I have duplicates ) I used to collect dealer Promos but never had an opportunity to get a RT vert promo in a reasonable budget. I sold my collection a dealer about a year or so ago
  16. Sad reality is. 30 years ago you probably could have bought an original 70 or 71 for about the same money you paid for this one today. I know a friend of mine paid 30k for an original 1970 Hemi Cuda. and groaned about it ( early - mid 80s time frame ) Now he wishes he had went ahead and paid up a little more for an original drop top. At that time they were still under $100K. Now ,,,not so much
  17. Anyone dare to take a guess how much these pull. its rare to find ONE of these, but to find all 3 in there avail colors is extremely difficult. So here is your chance to fill that hole in your Mopar promo collection. The green one is the easiest to find, followed by the yellow. The red is hands down the hardest one to find of this particular car. Not mine or do I know the seller. btw I'll take a guess they pull over $5k between the 3 , maybe $6k. Although I could see the red one pull $3k by itself In the Mopar promo world these are most collectors holy grail https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.TRS5&_nkw=1969+Dodge+Coronet+R%2FT+Convertible+Promo&_sacat=0
  18. Only if they have something I want and I dont have and want to build at some point. otherwise,,,,,,,, Nope
  19. Steve, I hope you didn't take this as a personal jab at you (trust me, it wasn't honest ) it was more a generalization of the hobby as a whole . Take the current Moebius 1965 Plymouth. With the leading edge of the roof looks like it has a fat upper upper lip. Or the Revell 1970 Cuda with its exaggerated wheel lip moldings. I may try to fix such issues if I feel the need . BUT,,,,, As Ive grown older Ive learned to accept faults with most kits today and move on , especially if its a subject i like. And being a huge fan of the early 60s super stocks I have loads of the this particular model. With zero intentions of ever fixing said inaccuracies. Kudos to those who do though.
  20. Same here. Many years ago I strived to achieve as much detail as I could on a build. As I've grown older . I've come to realize. I have to just build them .....and move on. It's not like I display then bottom side up anyway. I like looking at other people's build with lots of detail. I just no longer feel the need to do it on my own anymore.
  21. IMO,,,, No model kit is perfect. Someone can find fault in ANY kit. To me the biggest issue this kit has is the cowl area at the base of the windshield is bowed up to much. Otherwise I personally don't see much issue with it. I look in my display case and see a decent representation of a 1964 Dodge 2 door sedan . And for that I call it good
  22. Just an FYI, A 1971 Gran Coupe does not have the fender gills like a Cuda does.
  23. Nice, very nice Ive got the 1962 car done. Haven't done the other one ,,,YET
