We think alike as far as inspiration. I know the owner of the white 1/1 quite well. and had been looking to replicate his car for some time. So when I found this I knew exactly what it would look like when I dug into it

Ps, mind if I ask why your going with such a high back seat. The actual car had a low back seat like the kit has -

I was in our local Ollies end of last week. They had maybe a dozen of the Cosmic Chargers for $7.99 . I though about grabbing one or two. But my experience was not good with the one I started on last fall. -
Is it just me, or have the major players gotten quite tight lipped on new releases ?

My one and only dealings with them was via Ebay. It went perfect. . Although it was maybe 10 years ago or more????. ( my memory isn't what it used to be ) But Ive heard dozens of stories and NONE had a good ending for the buyer

In the future if you want to do a fuel block . Look at the beading isle in hobby lobby or Micheal's Crafts. Also take a look at model rail road supplies for hollow small square brass stock. -
Good idea. REALLY like the shop as well.

Went in the local one yesterday. Left empty handed. Walked across the lot to Ollies.....same deal. Nothing worth buying. -

Ya know, I'm not a corvette guy by any means. But thats one car I sure would like to see in 1.25th scale -
Agreed, I managed to pick up a couple of the 64 Comets when they were released . And did pick up a sealed 59 Imperial a couple years ago. Neither of which are very common on sellers swap meet table. I for sure would take one or 2 more of each for sure

This is all rattle cans. 1st painted the entire body gold. I took a mailing box not much bigger then the body itself. cut open one end at a slight angle to mimic the angle of the colors as shown placed just enough to allow the nose to stick out from about the center of the front wheel openings exposed . Then spray the white nose using Tamiya pure white, followed by a misting of Testors white lightning to get the pearl look to it. Again over the white part of the nose only. Holding the body in hand I sprayed the back of it just maybe a couple inches from the tail lights forward . With what ' I think it was a testors' DARK metallic red. followed by 2 or 3 light coats of Tamiya Clear red with the heavier coats towards the back end of the body. Thus making it look like it fades into the gold. Using the previous box . Place it over the front end of the body . spray a light coat of clear red. . prior to the next coats slide the box back maybe an inch . Essentially making the red get darker as it goes rearward. Its a little hard to see the fade in pictures,,but its there . Then 2 or 3 coats of wet look clear once the decals are on it . This is a curbside build.. There's no engine , the hood is glued shut , chassis and interior is nothing but Duplicolor satin black and very little interior detailing picked out with a silver sharpie . I built in a day. Just to see if I could do it

bring it on bro. Garage is empty.....for now. Plus my preferred painter now has access to a real nice paint booth. So i can now keep everything in house . But here are a few under hood pictures. The premise from the very beginning was a car that looks factory stock to the casual observer without really sweating the tiniest of details. ( no date coded plug wires , ribbed vacuum lines etc ) . He was told NOT to buy it. It was that rough. But he wanted a father and son project, But soon found out rather quickly he was over his head. Thats where I came in. And over the past 4 - 5 years Ive had it. Working on it as my time and his finances allowed . Every nut bolt and screw has been touched from end to end . Probably a little more work/detail then he originally envisioned . But he is ecstatic with the final outcome. The car is powered by a very mild build 440 ( if you can call 11 to 1 compression mild ) Just enough cam in it to tell its not stock . Flowing thru stock exhaust all the way to NOS chrome tips under the rear bumper. Front suspension is mostly stock. Albeit all powder coated and new wear items. Its has been converted to power front disc brakes. A McLeod diaphragm clutch so its easy on the left leg at stop lights. Updated to a 3.5" chrome moly driveshaft. and the aforementioned 4.10 Dana . So the car should should more than hold its own on the streets of northern Dayton Ohio . Interior was originally black , but we decided the white looked so much better with the original EE1 dark blue metallic. Which is a rather rare color in its own right . The original Am radio is now modern internals to play AM/FM and a USB port to be able to connect to his I phone or Laptop for those long drives . And he fully intends to drive the snot out of it .
