  1. when i asked him about them. I had to buy a body to get them. I passed
  2. I'm Prob a my gonna wish I handy asked this. But was a convertible 67 to 69 kit made. These cars have never done much for me. But I could be talked into it of its a droptop.
  3. Sounds familiar. Ive been known to blow off mowing grass / home chores before to work on models. So I guess I deserve it . But my wife has told me before it sure beats the alternatives. I'm not out running around or hanging in bars. I think we ALL have to have a hobby to keep our sanity.
  4. These are some of the earliest pictures I've seen of the truck showing its 1st power plant. Best I can remember it was basically robbed straight out of the A990 based Race Hemi bins back then I used to have the original build article ( lost it in a PC crash a few years ago ) That is killer for details on how it was built
  5. Pay close attention to the door and hinge fit and they will operate as designed. Mine ' did ' ,,,at least until I dropped it. Sadly they are now permanently glued shut. I've always wanted to replicate the one above. But with no source for the white lettering I never moved forward with the idea .
  6. I hate to hear of any company going bellyup. Especially a smaller hobbyist owned company like them . But to be honest, It would have zero effect on me. Actually I could never buy another kit in my life time and I have enough stashed away to take me to the end of my days . The past few years Ive been stocking up my planned retirement builds stash. And to be honest 90% of them have been old annuals not produced in the past 30-40 years . The other 10% has been extremely selective as to subject matter,,,,,irregardless of manufacturer.
  7. very nice My dad bought one that looked exactly like it in 1973 . Although his was a 6 cyl 3 spd. on the tree
  8. I don't build much outside box stock anymore. Ive done my share of drilling and wiring up dist caps and engines for many years in the past. Now if I want to add that kind of detail ( which is rare anymore ) . I use these,,,,,might I suggest http://www.madmodeling.com/store/ for $5 ea. how can you go wrong. Avail in all kinds of wire colors and dist cap colors to fit most any need
  9. My wife is very supportive. Although shortly after we starting dating many years ago . I think she asked herself what she was getting into when I paid over $100 for a model car . But she soon realized I had a good idea what I was doing when I sold same kit for well over $200 . Now ,,,, when I paid over $500 for a kit I think she thought I lost my friggen mind . I realized having that kind of money tied up in one kit was crazy, so soon sold it and got all my investment back out of it . Although she wonders sometimes just how I can sit there for hours on end and work with all those tiny pieces. And both my daughters think they're cool. ,,, my youngest has even built a few herself. But school and high school soccer and a part time job pretty much takes up most of her time . Hopefully she'll build again. My wife and both daughters have been around old cars since day one. She knew what she was getting into and decided to stick around anyway. ( thanks babe ) Plus both my girls have been raised in and around old cars from the day they were born. ( my oldest came home from the hospital in a blue 1969 GTX convertible when she was born ) And BOTH of them want some old car of there own at some point in there life. My wife is starting to say we need to get another old car ,,,soon. I just realized its been almost 10 years since I sold my 1970 Challenger 340 . Yep, time to start looking for another one for the garage .
  10. Very nice. Are the decals readily avail for this car ?
  11. The LRW was constantly changing over the years. Ive seen it run many times . But the last few years around.( maybe 10 or so ) It was the blown hemi version with the mural along the lower body This is one of,,,,, if not the first version of it . As far as I know this is the only version where the lettering is white instead of the more common yellow
  12. Ive got a 1970 Chevelle kit on hand that I wasn't sure what to do with it. Count me in for a set of these when they're ready . Will ck to see if theres any others I may need. I need to do some looking around for various decals. I want to stock up on before they disappear
  13. Very cool. Ive seen this very dart in person. Its a really cool car to see in person
  14. Probably one of, if not my favorite kits to build. Goes together without a fuss. Maybe not 100% accurate for the subject matter but it sure looks the part once finished. And thats comfort to me. The Revell 1964 Ford Thunderbolt
  15. Mailman dropped of Johan 1960 Plymouth wagon and 1963 Plymouth Fury kits ,,,, both are unbuilt . Ive been thinking I need to get one of the wagon kits for a while now. Just always out of my price range for something that's not in my top 10 want list The 63 Fury kit I already have a couple, but it was priced right so I grabbed it as well. In the pile it goes
  16. Sure starting to look the part . ps, pictures are on there way ( so sorry for the delay )
  17. I'll take the 1st set. Ive got a spare MPC chassis and a resin 68 body waiting patiently. Another one I personally would like to see ( either car btw ) and am surprised no ones done it since the lindberg kit was introduced.
  18. I would agree to that in a heartbeat long before I subscribed to a printed magazine that may or may not arrive.
  19. IMO, the MPC body is the better of the 2 versions. As far as the Interior and chassis its hands down the revell kit. But Its the door scallops on the Revell kit so exaggerated that ruins it for me
  20. Ive got both an AMT later issue hardtop and an original issue convertible near the top of my to do list. I was thinking something along the lines of a copper with a 2 tone copper and white interior on one or the other . I'm gonna have to watch this one
  21. With us planning an across country move maybe next year. Ive been thinking about this. I dont do contests but If I did I think this method would still be my choice. The box is light weight , but heavy enough to withstand a little bit of rough handling that comes with packing and unpacking at a show. Although I have used the upside down display case method for quick and easy transport before . I bought 200 of the heavier cardboard promo boxes to pack them in,,,, and they will be wrapped in tissue / toilet paper. Then I'll pack maybe a dozen or so in larger brown boxes . They'll then be stacked in a moving truck for the move. Although some of my better ones may be in the wife's van ( aka air conditioned ) Having bought hundreds of builtups the past few years and a lot of them came this exact way. 99% survived the USPS intact and mostly unscathed save for a few loose pieces ( mirrors and door handles mostly ) If the USPS system cant destroy them I think I'll be fine.
