Wild 2021 Dodge Viper
gtx6970 replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Dodge did. Although I am pretty sure they sold off the rights and the tooling . So I dont know WHO is making the next generation -
Will Hobby Lobby be stocking the Dyno Don Cougar funny car?
gtx6970 replied to GMP440's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I'll probably pick one of these up. I already have maybe a half dozen of the Model King versions. Just dont have the decals to do this particular car. -
Ive been away from the model bench for some time. and Didnt realize Jack Smith had the decals to do this particular car. I guess I will have to ck his lists again in the near future. This car the same maroon as the Thunderbolts ?

Had a recent trade with Bryon Hobbs aka PlymouthFan I had his end of the trade even before I had my end packed and shipped. Super happy with the deal

I'm not a customs fan per say. But this is cool

Sweet, Where are the decals from? And , resin interior I assume ?

Bugatti Atlantic
gtx6970 replied to Richard Bartrop's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not sure that I personally would call it beautiful. As Ive never cared for the shark fin running the length of the car myself. BUT, its definitely near the top of most any dream car list. 1 of 2 is about as exclusive as you can get -
Johan 1963 Plymouth Fury. A Little More Progress.

I love these early B bodies. and the color is a HUGE plus for me. So you already know you have my attention pm if you need a couple of the CMG Dodge kits as parts kits -
Agreed, I had a few over the years and something always looked ' OFF ' to me. not to mention the grille in the gtx is weird ( I've never had a roadrunner version to compare them side by side )
-
Understood. I don't have a monogram Bird kit to compare ( guess one could call me a scale snob ) Yet I have 3 or 4 Johan Superbird kits .
-
Not sure I understand this comment. On the 1/1 the ONLY difference between Roadrunner / GTX roof versus a Superbird is the back glass and trim The Bird has a plug in the rear glass to change the shape of the glass itself stock RR / GTX rear glass shape The Bird plug goes right in over top the normal window opening

1:25 Revell '41 Willys Stone, Woods, and Cook

Nice, No drag car model collection is complete without a SWC willys. I built this same kit back in the day and have another one to build one for modern times, someday . -
The most dangerous race
gtx6970 replied to 935k3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Years ago I rode a GSXR750 , and I've heard of this race before but 1st time I've seen any kind of lengthy video of it . Those guys have bigger balls than I ever will. Those guys have much bigger knads than that. -
IMO its not so much as accepting sub-par, its about living / dealing with the cards one is dealt. If that happens to be sub-par chassis as you mentioned. then so be it. If the subject is something I like ( neither of these mentioned are ) I will deal with the kit the best I can and move on. I don't do contests, so I build for me and me alone. ( apparently I'm not the only one ) So a super detailed chassis means nothing at least not to me. ..in most cases anyway . Look around the hobby at any show. its not like there is a huge influx of new blood to push the hobby to the next level. So we all have to deal with the kits we have at the level they are or we wish to take them to .

True. and spotting the differences is easy once you know what to look for . And picking up an original just for the interior is not as bad as one might think. I bought an original interior tub over the winter for less than $20 Picked up a glue bomb built original issue, just to get the interior and gave the body away . again right about $20 I did pick up a clean builder original issue 62 convertible this past winter and I think I paid maybe $50- 60 for it ( need to ck my records to be sure ,but it wasn't hateful )

Once you've held them both in your hand. You will be able to spot the differences instantly

WOW Knads of steel they have -
Nice, Ive got 2 clean builder drop tops. And yes, I have a soft spot for the 1964 Dodges
-
i would like to find a clean builder 67 convertible. Although I might consider a 1968
-
I just bought a spotless Johan 1970 GTX builder in the past 6 months for $85 delivered and darn glad I got it. It was the last one of the Johan Mopar 5 I needed. The Monogram car sticks out like a sore thumb when the rest of your shelf is all 1.25th scale Ive picked up original issue Superbird, 69 Roadrunner and 70 Road Runner in recent years and none were over maybe $40-50 range. My 69 GTX on the other hand ,,,hurt the toy fund pretty good

Does anyone make a resin copy of the rear axle in the AMT 1971 Charger by chance. Gets expensive to buy these kits mainly for the rear axle
