  1. Oh man that sucks. You hap[pen to know if the car was repaired or wrote off as a total loss ? I saw a picture just a couple years ago. Where a Superbird was involved in a front end collision. It hurt the nose cone pretty bad ( never did hear what happened to it afterwards if it got repaired or not )
  2. On the 1/1 . the underhood box is all fiberglass. Only the air cleaner is metal The hood scoops were also fiberglass with exception to the chrome front edge mldg.,,,,, those were potmetal
  3. Nice, Like how you actually did the black weatherstrip on the leading edge of the fenders like on the 1/1
  4. The only clear pic I have of his Comet with the body up is the 1966 car ,,which is obviously a different chassis
  5. I seem to remember reading from numerous sites. these Cougar kits are REALLY tough to build and will require quite a bit of patience on the builders part to get them done without hitting a wall . I have several ,,,, But NONE are beyond much more than simply opened the box Which brings up the question,,,,what chassis is in the kit. I have a Kenz/Leslie car handy and it sure looks like this
  6. Merry Christmas to me. A few days ago the mail man dropped off a few goodies. For the builders that go well beyond the box contents. you NEED to get some of these carbs from Fireball Model works . Simple pictures do NOT do them justice. I picked up a couple sets as well as a few sets of the normal AVS carbs as well Original issue 1964 Dodge Polara convertible body. I have enough parts stashed away to make it 100% complete. This one now gives me 2 of them . I may try to use one as trade material to get a 1964 Fury convertible ,,,,, maybe
  7. Nailed it ......perfectly
  8. I foil the emblem before any paint or primer is applied. Trimmed just as close as if your doing it post paint work The once the color coats are on . I take the small Tamiya pointed swabs dipped in lacquer thinner and lightly go over the raised lettering to reveal the foiled emblem . ( I use a lighted magnifier to keep a real close eye on progress ,, a little goes a long way believe me ) Once revealed go over it lightly with nothing but a tissue or similar ( toilet paper as an example ) to bring up the shine . Then clear it all. It sounds SOOOOOO much more difficult than it really is . Ive been told the clear first THEN do the Q tip trick works just as well. Once done the above and your emblems are supposed to be gold tinted ( This Lincoln is an example ) then and only then take a yellow sharpie then lightly go over the foil to tint it yellow/gold .
  9. Looks good. I really like the big cars . And dont be afraid to try the foil before paint trick , Trust me once you do. You will never go back
  10. Agreed, ESPECIALLY the color
  11. Cool group. Love the AMX , Resin body I assume ?
  12. No, Rebuild of an original AMT annual kit And Thanks all for the kind words
  13. Ever have leftover parts and wonder what to do with them? This a trick question ?
  14. I seem to remember this very car was for sale recently ????? And If I remember right, this car was cruising the Indy fairgrounds at the Car Craft Street machine Nats back about 1979 or 80 time frame when I went a couple years in a row with my old 1970 Road Runner If it is, this thing sounded WICKED
  15. Thanks all. The Ford replicates a 1/1 that runs around here during summer months . In regards to a few of the others ,,,I got on a kick to build kits from my yuth ( whats a yuth ? get it ) this year. Hence the reason for the majority shown. Simple and easy. The T-Bolts are probably my favorite kit to build. No muss no fuss . Combined with I simply got tired of decal sheets being stored for far to long. The 1972 Cutlass was a gift for a friend of mine ....he had the 1/1 car and sold it last year. Kind of a condolence prize I guess.
  16. Although a few of these were actually started on back in 2016 . They were finished up over the winter and early spring of 2017 I get essentially zero model bench time in the summer months . So its as much as I can get done ,,,when I can get it done. Nothing to elaborate or over detailed. Actually all are box stock with exception to aftermarket decals of a few .
  17. Is the Thunderbolt color what your after ? If so maybe try Tamiya ( will update this post when I find the can I used for these ) EDIT, Found it. Tamiya TS11 maroon
  18. Sad day indeed. I met him many years ago. And really enjoyed it . Very humble man . This may be the final push I need to build a few of his cars for my shelf .
  19. Typically I'm not an import car builder. BUT, I have always REALLY liked those cars. I just might have to consider one of these for the stash
  20. I know, But it's the ONLY 57 Chev I have a desire to build in scale
  21. Maybe. I know they did the normal turbo T type ( I have one ) not sure about a GNX though
  22. Not a fan of much from the 80s ... And I'm a diehard Mopar fan .BUT I sure would like to have one of these . Just for chits and giggles . Ive driven one of these and have to say these things will fly in box stock form
  23. In all honesty. I don't have a single 1957 Chev in the stash of any kind. Or a 56 . And the only 55 I have is a Nomad to build the Paul Blevins car and 1 of the Badman re-issues ( already done ) Otherwise I have zero interest to build one I may pick up one someday to do the Hollywood Knights / PHR Project 57 ,,,someday
  24. If it in fact applies to GM cars I have no idea. But I know for a fact Mopars of the same era were grey ,,,EXCEPT LA plant built cars. They were black
