Never saw THAT before
gtx6970 replied to smhardesty's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
it can work. My younger brother and his wife have had this exact same relationship since they got married ( got be close to 30 years now ) To the best of my knowledge,,, They have no qualms about money. I know they both are pretty frugal when it comes to buying anything. So that may be a factor. -

Same here My wife makes CONSIDERABLY more then I do , or ever have. But I typically buy what I want , when I want it. Its extremely rare I catch grief for anything I buy,,,, toys or otherwise Case in point , bought an AR15 about 6 - 8 weeks ago without so much as a whisper Bought momma a glock 380 that evening as well. But mine was quite a bit more $$$ than hers was. She asked how much then in next breath said sure. God I love my wife Savings account took a hit that day for sure . But its recovered ok And btw, I wear the pants in this household.Wife just tells me which ones .... lol -

Ditto I have zero issues with criticisms , as long as its done with tact. Just Don't talk down to me or criticize my build just because ' you think' your better than I am Another way to look at a build in process thread is , you would be amazed what you see on the computer screen that you didn't see before. Trust me . It happens to me just about every model I build -
My Landy Dart conversion. I started this right before the actual 1968 kit came out. My body was already done, so all I had to use were the grill and tail lights from the newer kit Drilled a very small hole in the body. inserted and super glued aluminum tubing in from the backside. Polished the exposed tubing then filled it with elmers glue and painted that with testors stop light red . It looks SO much better then smooth decals , IMO I can get better / closeups pics if needed

modern kits. I'll buy sealed or open . It makes no difference Vintage kits I prefer to buy opened, that way I can verify the contents are what they're supposed to be . A few years back ( about 10 or more actually ) I went against my usual chain of thought and bought a sealed Barry Setzer vega funnycar. it was cheap compared to others I was seeing at the time. Within minutes of its arrival it was opened up. All was dead mint inside. On the shelf it went and will remain there in that condition till I no longer breathe air . its one of these kits I had as much younger me and have zero interest to build it. I bought several builders to actually build one for the case about 15 years ago. I bought a factory sealed Color Me Gone 1968 Charger. I paid for it ( stupid expensive and I thought my wife was gonna kill me, but that's another story ) But I opened it right in front of the guy. and I thought he was gonna have a stroke that I opened it

This is what I did to turn a recall 69 Dart into a 68 (before the actual 68 came out) Pics tomorrow.

Thats the way its molded. 1969 body and they give you decals to replicate the 68 side markers. otherwise there is zero difference between 68 and 69 , including the hood

Looks like chrome on a sport fury as well Poke around here and find all kinds of info on the early cars http://www.1962to1965mopar.ornocar.com/welcome.html http://www.1962to1965mopar.ornocar.com/comstockj63p2.html -

I'll be honest. it might depend on trim level. Belvedere may be int color, where as a Sport Fury might be chrome. ,,or vice versa These are both guesses on my part. as I am not 100% familiar with these early cars as well as later sixties cars -

I think the chrome A pillars ended in 1967.. 1968 and later had hard molded plastic A pillar trim pieces that were interior color -
IMO, the Revell kit more accurately replicates the new nostalgia version of this car ( chi town hustler as well ) Where as the Polar light version more accurately replicates the original back in the 60s version

Also, a 1963 Plymouth ( or dodge for that matter ) does NOT have the same fabric head liner material that runs down the A pillar like the later cars did. I think that started with 1968 models They have a piece of hard metal trim, sometimes chrome trim moulding there instead -

Keep in mind. the head liner does not go all the way to the edge of the top of the windshield. There is a metal trim about 1.25" wide that edges the upper windshield opening. the rear edge of the headliner goes pretty much all the way to the glass but does have a smaller piece of trim but its not as wide of the front one is. as far as fabric choice. I would go with a flat color of choice for the interior ,,, the headliner in this scale isnt going to have any noticeable texture to it -

you and me both. I'm actually trying my best to keep modern or recently tooled kit purchases to a bare minimum and concentrate of my old annuals / drag car wants list. But even its getting incredibly small nowadays / aka very limited purchases. And even then it has to be a pretty good buy for me to bite . The days of my over paying for ANY kit is over. I already have far more than I will probably ever build while I am on the green side . I want one of the new Dyon Don cougar kits. But I can wait till I get a good deal on one. Buying off the net and paying postage , isnt going to happen. I'll do without it first -

Interesting kits. Even though its 100% fictitious. But, To be honest. I wouldn't mid having one of these kits to build. -

Yep, thats the one. The box and the trailer will go away / become trade fodder I almost bought a different one a while back,. but it was missing the hood inserts which I have a feeling cant be easy to find . I'm glad I waited. This one I felt was reasonable $$
