  1. As for entirely american made items, at last check I think we were down to cheeseburgers and porn. http://autos.aol.com/gallery/the-most-american-cars/?ncid=webmail15
  2. I don't care who you are...that's funny right there!
  3. I...LOVE...North Carolina! Especially Randleman/Level Cross, but the whole place is rich in history, clean pine scented air and some of the best beaches! There is nothing to not like about both of the Carolinas!
  4. I just wanted to take a moment to wish for a most happy and safe Fourth of July/Independence day to all my fellow modelers. To those of you whom I may have offended or rubbed the wrong way I hope we can use this opportunity to start fresh. Most of us live in the land of the free. Free to speak our minds. Free to be who we are. Free to hold to our own belief system. Free to build model kits day and night until our fingers are glued together to stop the bleeding from errant razor blades we used to trim parts! It's a fantastic, plastic world we live in and I hope each and everyone of us takes a moment out of time today to reflect on how wonderfull life really is! Forget the strife and daily issues that normally cloud our lives and hug your children, tell your parents you love them and kiss your spouse. As Craig Ferguson would say..."It's a great day in America friends...!"
  5. Some LHS's will stock that stuff. I usually go evilbay for most of it but wiring can be found at radio shack and flocking at craft stores in the stamping section from what I understand.
  6. Whew! Dang it Tom, I have enough stress without worrying about the stuff I mail out! As Ozzy Osbourne once told Kelly "Write me a note!"
  7. I start by seperating all the parts from the trees and placing them into sub assemblies. All the engine parts go into a baggie, all the suspension into another and so on. Next I pick one, usually the body and clean up all the mold seams, ejector pin marks and flash, prep and paint. While the body cures I start the same process on the next baggie, usually the engine. When I have all my sub assemblies cleaned up and thier main color on, I then start over at the body adding the little details. Bare metal foil, touch up or detail paint and so on. Then when that is done I assemble. I don't do much heavy detailing as far as photo etch or plumbing and such but I will occaisionally ad a wired distributor.
  8. I sent it priority mail over two weeks ago. I just can't remember if I sent them to you or to Tom. I think it might have been Tom since he was the one who private messaged me. I'll see if I can recall the deleted message.
  9. Sad for our loss, happy for heaven's gain. One thing I remember about Andy, he sure could pick a mean guitar!
  10. Same around here. There are still parts of Marrietta and Belpre Ohio without power. We were down about 36 hours here in Parkersburg. I know my fridge is empty till tomorrow! Ruined all my food. Thank God for canned goods!
  11. Absolute, jaw dropping beauties! Welcome back to the fold Drew.
  12. If you live on an island or somewhere far from civilisation then no, it's not crazy you're just stocking up. It would only seem crazy if you lived in a well populated area like Ontario Canada or some place like that. Oh! Uh...wait a minute...
  13. Okay, so you still need a battery and alternator then?
  14. Now i'm really confoosed! Am I reading this wrong? If you have a magneto you don't need a battery or alternator?
  15. Magneto is proffesor X's mortal enemy! Just kidding. I'd kinda like to know as well.
  16. Color me copycat! After seeing yours the other day and hearing what you paid I couldn't pass it up! Much better computer stand than I had, thanks for the tip!
  17. I know right? It's been in movies and was a staple at car shows for quite some time. Maybe Dean Jeffries wanted too much in licensing? Joshua, do you have a link? I would like to see what you mean by the "hawg air filter".
  18. Cars 2 is on right now. Except for the spoiler, it looks to me like Holly Shiftwell is the same basic design as McQueen?
  19. Very nice! I especially love that engine bay. Two thumbs up.
  20. Will the REAL Lightning McQueen please roll up? I don't know if this helps or not, but there you have it.
  21. So i'm sitting here just waiting for the power to go out again... and saw another thread about "Cars" cars. The OP was wondering what to use to make a Lightening McQueen, which in my opinion that name is an homage to Steve McQueen, although i've never heard it brought up before. At any rate, it got me to thinking, there are a boatload of 1:1, diecasts, artworks and more out there of custom cars and a whole slew of characters from the movies like Cars one and two. So I thought a cool thread would be, if you were going to build a model of a particular car "What would YOU use?" Here's the Twin Mill III The front end is obviously Corvette based, but I have no idea WHERE to go with the back half. The Surf Crate has always been one of my faves... but I have no clue where to start. Another one I would love to see in 1/25th is the MantaRay A complete sculpt, or is there a base one could start with? Guys, please chime in with your likes. If you have a plan, let us in on it. If you want some suggestions on where to start, post them here and let the many great minds on the board help you out!
  22. Wow! This topic just sent me back to the 1970's! Used to go to the tractor pulls every year at the county fairgrounds. There was a young lady I used to run around with there. I sure miss her. The tractor pulls not as much but still...
  23. I was five. It was a glow in the dark human skeleton. I was a creepy kid.
