Greg Myers Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 (edited) From Mike M on another board. Wouldn't change a thing. Edited September 6, 2015 by Greg Myers
disabled modeler Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 Id drive it........looks like a lot of fun.
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 I love it...except for the pipes, which I personally find cartoonish. Otherwise, about perfect. DISCLAIMER: This is only my own aesthetic opinion, and is not meant in any way to condemn or criticize the builder, Greg, the maker of the pipes, or anyone who likes them...or their dog, their political stance, their gender preference or their position on global warming.
Jon Haigwood Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 i also like except for the pipes. Would make a good Hot Wheel
Greg Myers Posted September 6, 2015 Author Posted September 6, 2015 Maybe something more to your liking ? Pipe wise.
Jon Haigwood Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 This is your pipes, This is your pipes on Meth
Greg Myers Posted September 6, 2015 Author Posted September 6, 2015 (edited) Actually, it was the pipes that drew me in only to realize how nice the rest of the car was. I like pipes. The first one with the "W" motor. Edited September 6, 2015 by Greg Myers
Joe Handley Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 I like the cartoonishness of those pipes, further sets it apart from the crowd!
Jon Haigwood Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 Nice pipes are always a plus except when they look like bagpipes.
Chuck Most Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 I'm in the "not the fan of the pipes" camp, but if the guy who built the car likes them, I'm not here to judge. Just not something I'd do to my own car. The rest of the car more than makes up for any issues I might have with the exhaust, IMO.
vettecote Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 Heck! It has a paint job! I like it!...Joe
Daddyfink Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 I am so tired to those fake spindle mount front spoke wheels from E.T. But, at least it doesn't have Red Steel Wheels!!
Greg Myers Posted September 6, 2015 Author Posted September 6, 2015 I am so tired to those fake spindle mount front spoke wheels from E.T. But, at least it doesn't have Red Steel Wheels!! Been doin' "Fake" for a bunch of years. Those ain't too bad.
Spex84 Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 First impressions---a bit overwrought, but I like it!There's a whole thread on the HAMB devoted to wild exhaust, and some of the creations of the '50s-70s were truly nuts. If nothing else, they give the truck its own unique flavor. It looks fast while standing still, and that's always a plus.
Danny Lectro Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 I'm not a big fan of the exhaust or the wheels, either. However, I love the colors (especially on the firewall), the engine, and the overall fit and finish.
PatW Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 Looks good but in the UK the wheels have to be covered and the exhaust has to have silencers/mufflers and out of harms reach/ under the car so no one can get burnt!
SfanGoch Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 Looks good but in the UK the wheels have to be covered and the exhaust has to have silencers/mufflers and out of harms reach/ under the car so no one can get burnt! "Be careful or you'll put your eye out"; "You could hurt yourself doing that"; "Do you want to kill yourself in that thing?".....BAH!!!!! Enough with this "safety" already! All these here regulations take the fun out of doing stuff. "They" are turning us into human veal. Does anyone know how much gun cotton I'll need to cold crank a Chrysler Slant Six?
Snake45 Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 I love it...except for the pipes, which I personally find cartoonish. Otherwise, about perfect. Same here. Reminded me of venetian blinds.
mikemodeler Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Not my cup of tea, I would rather have the Chevelle next to it, but I admire someone's attention to detail and desire to create their hot rod.
Dave Ambrose Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Overall, I like it, but I'm ambivalent about the pipes. I like that they're different, but you're gonna smack the door on the pipes every other time you open it.
Greg Myers Posted September 7, 2015 Author Posted September 7, 2015 Same here. Reminded me of venetian blinds. and the "plumbers tape" hangers don't help either.
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 (edited) Not my cup of tea, I would rather have the Chevelle next to it, but I admire someone's attention to detail and desire to create their hot rod.The "their" in bold type seems to be another of those thinly veiled indications that it's somehow becoming offensive to express an aesthetic judgement about someone else's work. Greg Myers Posted September 7, 2015 Author Posted September 7, 2015 (edited) Looks like a popular style. Same group ? Even has Daddyfink's favorite wheels. Edited September 7, 2015 by Greg Myers
mikemodeler Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 The "their" in bold type seems to be another of those thinly veiled indications that it's somehow becoming offensive to express an aesthetic judgement about someone else's work. It was intended to state that what one wants to build for themselves is fine with me as they obviously didn't take the safe route and use off the shelf parts for their car. I was not trying to hide or refrain from offending someone, just merely admiring most aspects of the build.
Jon Haigwood Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Looks like a popular style. Same group ? Even has Daddyfink's favorite wheels. This cars exhaust seems to be visually balanced. When the Intake and exhaust have the proper balance of pipeage the aesthetics are easy on the eye and draw the viewers attention to the powerful power plant installed there. (but maybe that's just me ?)
