Got the 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham finished. I'm pleased with the way it turned out considering the tooling is 58 years old. Interesting info below.

The stunning 1957-58 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham is arguably the most lavish car that automaker has ever built. It was by far the highest-priced American auto and was produced in limited numbers to show that Caddy was the luxury car king.

Still gorgeous, the Eldorado Brougham sedan--actually a four-door hardtop with no center roof posts--carried the stratospheric price of $13,074. A regular Cadillac sedan cost $4,781, and a Chevrolet sedan could be had for $2,048. Curb weight was a whopping 5,315 lbs.

Wow!  That looks way better than the box art, makes me want to reconsider  this kit. From a pile of parts to true beauty. Nice job, very impressive.

Looks great Randy!

But to my eye, it still looks short & wide.

Some of the 1/32nd kits from revell back then looked the same.

The '56 Caddy always looked too short as well.

Might just be my eyes! :P

Thanks guys! Steven after comparing the size to my reference pics I used, I think it's properly proportioned. Maybe it's me but it looks to be right. The 1957 Eldo 1:1 vehicle was not that long compared to the 1959 Eldo which was long.

Could very well be right Randy.

I just couldn't get past the look of it looking into the box of the one that I have.

But, I did a little checking & compared it to the Johan '58 Fleetwood that I have.

Seems that you are correct!

The Revell kit looks to be almost the exact same length & width as the Johan.

Maybe it's just the illusion created by the box art.

A nice little trick that the auto manufacturers used to use by making the car appear to be longer & lower that it actually was.

Fantastic job, Randy! I've seldom seen this kit so well built.

The kit is very nostalgic for me as I built one when it was new (I was probably 14) and was very proud of my work!

Yes, they did that in sales literature when the cars were drawn by artists before actual photography. It was a common, if somewhat devious practice.

Randy thanks for posting.  Once again great job especially considering what you started with, not exactly new tooling!  BTW did the stock of Bare Metal Foil go up in value the last few weeks!  LOL!

Thanks everyone!  :) David I know I have shares in BMF stock with all of these Cadillacs I've been doing lately. If nothing else I'm sure getting plenty of practice foiling!

Awesome job on a really old kit!

Are you going to paint the rubber "bullets" on the front bumper?

Thanks Ray. Got them painted.
