Dave B Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Just an out of the box build of GT 40 P1075 albeit with the stripes sprayed, using auto acrylic, in lieu of decals. Tks for looking Dave B
Crazy Ed Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Nicely built Dave, and I like the fact you painted the stripes. Sure gives a more pure Orange than the Blue-Orange the decal gives.
Phildaupho Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Iconic. Great job on painted stripes. They really enhance the look.
Earl Marischal Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Those cars were built a couple of miles from my old school. We used to ride our bikes out to look at them.steve
Miatatom Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 Great job! I've got a Gulf blue car to do. What the source for the blue you used?
vamach1 Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 MCW Spray or Airbrush bottle. 6431 Skylight Blue http://www.mcwautomotivefinishes.com/paint/ford.html
Dann Tier Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Love it! makes me wanna build mine. Did you also paint the black pinstripe?
Dave B Posted November 27, 2015 Author Posted November 27, 2015 (edited) Tks for the kind words guys & gals. It's the Fujimi kit, the blue is actually Triumph Powder Blue (according to the GT40 forums this is the actual colour Gulf used) and the black stripe is auto pin stripe tape (sorry folks, cheated on that one) then clear coated the lot. There are a few issues with it, particularly around the roundels, could have done better. Ed, still have a Fisher 2F to build, hope you like it when built.RegardsDave B Edited November 27, 2015 by Bantoft correct typo's
Crazy Ed Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Ed, still have a Fisher 2F to build, hope you like it when built. Regards Dave B Looking forward to see your build if that Kit. One things for sure. The Paint scheme is one heck of a lot simpler!
MAGIC MUFFLER Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Always loved the Gulf!!!!! Really nice work on this one
Mattsteel85 Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 realy nice job with the detail paint ! love the color
Burnout Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 That is a really beautiful piece of work. Congrats!
tmathew1us Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Great jobThe actual shade of blue for Gulf-liveried cars is an endless debate on the forums.Did you use 1 mm auto pinstriping tape, or cut it yourself? it looks like it make it around curves pretty well.
