Kennyboy Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 (edited) Always wanted to do this and finally pulled the trigger on it. Completed this in a weekend. I used the Monogram Lambo Diablo for my donor. Wheels/tires are from the Pontiac Banshee (because they had the right look for a future type build.) Paint was achieved by basecoating the entire car with white lacquer, then sprayed lightly with Krylon glow in the dark blue (thats right it glows in the dark too!), then using 3m blue painters tape I cut strips about 1/16" wide and went about applying.......sprayed over the body with high temp engine semi gloss black (decanted and airbrushed.) Let me know what you think! Edited January 4, 2016 by Kennyboy
astroracer Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Looks pretty cool! Good job! Although we do need to see some "in the dark" pics...
Jonathan Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 That's cool! You should put it under a black light (or perhaps a blue LED) to see if it'll photograph well for us to see!
blunc Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 try taking a photo in regular light with the camera on a tripod, then (without moving the model or the camera) take a photo with only blacklight. (long exposure may be required)then a little photoshop magic can superimpose the glowing lines onto the white lighted version of the photo.
bobthehobbyguy Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Cool. A picture in the darkwould be cool.
Erik Smith Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 That's really cool. Great work and creativity with the paint.
Crazy Ed Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 What a great idea and it came out really well. I wouldn't want to see a fleet of this style, but this worked !
Jantrix Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Wow. I really dig that. Great thinking. Reminds me of a TV show car from the 70's. The name escapes me at this moment.
Kennyboy Posted January 4, 2016 Author Posted January 4, 2016 Thanks guys, I really appreciate the support! Hey Rob, I know what show you are talking about......it was a Lamborghini Countach LP500 done up like this. The main character had a little guy around him he called cursor. AUTOMAN!
1930fordpickup Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 The glow in the dark paint sure is cool. Like a night light .

Dann Tier Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 I hate the movie, Tron, but nice job, and very cool idea!
Ace-Garageguy Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Great black-light pix, great technique to mask the lines to fluoresce like that. Should be a good way to do the red lines on the first-gen Batmobile, too.
