ChrisR Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 I bought this Aardvark model about twenty five years ago. As it was my first resin model I didn't prep the body and got lots of fish eyes in the paint. Once again not knowing I put the model in brake fluid to remove the paint with disastrous results. I cleaned the parts and put it in a box until last year. At our local SA NNL someone issued a challenge to build an old Italian sports car. I thought that my modelling skills have improved a bit over the years and it was time to try and salvage the Maserati. After lots of superglue, filler and primer this is the result.
'70 Grande Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Wow! I think that's all I can say... "WOW!"
afx Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Nice save Chris. The wheels and tires are particularly nice.
bbowser Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Just goes to show, never throw anything away! Great model, I wish someone would do this one in styrene.
Bernard Kron Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 (edited) Yes, nice save. I would love to know more about this kit and its history. I assume it's a curbside but just the exposed portion of the birdcage would be a tour de force of kit design. Doing it justice, as you have, must be very satisfying. MrObsessive Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 That is one gorgeous rescue! Another '60's favorite of mine as far as race cars that unfortunately will never be kitted in the mainstream.
DumpyDan Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Wow, nice model and the detailing is incredible.
