The one I go to doesn't get all of the releases at once. They get some, I check later they get more different ones. I just checked Wednesday, they got in more different ones. Postal Pinto, Rick Shaw or whatever it is, some others I don't remember.

Mine had those two months ago. Picked up two Pintos but don’t know what I’m going to do with them.

A new Ollie's just opened this past week in the small town close to me. I used to have to drive 60 miles round trip now it is only 20. Also, not sure of the presence of model builders in my local area so I may have a better selection of unpicked over kits when they do get them. While on the topic of Ollie's I found some Black & Decker spray paint the last time I was up there. Anyone familiar with it? It comes in the basic colors, a couple of semi-flats and white and black primers, costs $5.99 for a regular size can. I picked up one each of the primers and will give them a try once I can find my worktable again.

Visited the local Ollie's last week. They don't seem to be stocking any kits of interest anymore. Did find some Nano type of wax for our 1:1 cars.

It seems to go in fits and starts.  Seems like they're about due for another batch of automotive kits, though you just never know with them.  At one point there was a period of about 2 years where they weren't getting any kits.

Seems like the Round 2 stuff they've been getting recently is closeout, while the Revell-Monogram stuff has been produced specifically for them.

Every time I look at their website they seem to be opening a couple stores somewhere.  Of course, that's good if it's near you.  However, that also means that the finite number of any closeout kits are getting spread thinner as the store quantity increases.

A while back people were posting that they were finding the Dyno Don '62 Bel Air.  Would have gladly bought several of those, but never saw them show up at my local store.

FYI, the only thing left at mine right now is some MPC Wacky Racers and Atlantis non-automotive stuff.

For the last year the local store has only had some basic snap Mustang kits and only once did I find an old Monogram '32 Ford and not one of their better efforts at that. Gotten to the point where I don't even bother checking anymore. This maybe a regional issue since others seem to be finding treasures in their areas.

On FB there was a guy who posted he got a  1/16 Atlantis Jungle Jim Vega at his Ollie's, $15! Could be models will start coming in now. One of the ones near me got a huge load of Christmas toys already.

I was at the Monroe MI store friday and there were plenty of boxes for toys. Looks like they are ramping up for christmas now.

In the past the models first appeared around the first week of October.  But who knows what what they have up their sleaves.

I understand they are an outlet company

It's true, I got one today.  They only had a couple of Atlantis kits, the other one was the ex-Monogram 1/32 scale dragster.

On one hand, I'm hoping this doesn't become a trend as Atlantis is a smaller company.  If they end up dumping a lot of car kits to closeout, that might discourage them from digging deeper into the vault.  On the other hand, this could be a one-off thing as the JJ Vega was issued on the heels of the Green Elephant issue, and the 1/16 builders may not have wanted another Vega right away.  The lack of Revell markings on the box art photo may have played into it too, though they are on the decal sheet.  The fuel line material is improved over the Revell issues, and the new tires are better than the new ones Revell tooled for the Hawaiian Charger they did a few years back.

I think Mark is right on several accounts. The Green Elephant Vega sold more for people who were happy to have a 1/16 kit available. I think either would had sold well but both would not. I think the Grand Am will also have poor sales. Nothing against the Grand Am, but there were so few of that body raced that there's not many options except variations of Mickey Thomson cars. I think a Cuda or Mustang would be great sellers. Of course, those need kitted up. The charger would be better than either the Grand Am or the second Vega but not be a huge seller. As for tires, I don't think either Revell or Atlantis have scaled those correctly.

I'd disagree on the Grand Am.  Though only Mickey Thompson used that body (he designed it, and nobody else was allowed to buy one, except one guy who bought a complete car) that kit was by far the biggest seller of all of the 1/16 scale drag cars that Revell did.  Prior to finding that out, I always wondered why Revell never did a Grand Am in 1/25 scale.  It probably would have cut into sales of the bigger one.

Didn’t Atlantis announce (about a month ago) they were producing kits specifically for Ollie’s?

That e-mail mentions kits manufactured exclusively for Ollie's, but the two kits I saw earlier today have been available elsewhere.  In fact, the local IPMS chapter met earlier this week, and those of us who entered the "summer challenge" had to bring our finished models.  One guy who normally builds aircraft chose the Jungle Jim Vega, and did an extremely clean build on it.
