Thanks for all replies!

That is gorgeous!!,is that body color Elkhart green?

As Richard said Corvette green metallics changed annually:

1969 Code 983 Fathom Green

1970 Code 982 Donnybrooke Green

1971 Code 983 Brands Hatch Green

1972 Code 946 Elkhart Green

BTW when spraying metallics I use almost exclusively Humbrol paints. I still remember that when mixing this particular green metallic a test spray looked much better after adding some gold.

SUPERB!! -love EVERYTHING about it!! Q:how did you do the chrome on the side vents.......foil?

Sorry, that I overlooked the question at the end of your post. Yes, it is BMF on the side vents. Their mouldings are very delicate. Therefore I suppose that I applied BMF here before painting and that I removed the paint on the raised areas cautiously.

I keep going back and looking at this, and it's the COLOR and PAINT that keep me looking! EXCELLENT paint work, and like everyone else has said, the color is gorgeous!

These were VERY common on the streets here in the states back in the '70's and '80's and are prized collector's items now. Back in 1980, I spotted a '70 with a 454 (?) on a used car dealers lot, and wanted it badly. I drove it, but if it weren't for the high insurance (I was 19 at the time), it might have been mine. They wanted only $4500 for it, and that was a STEAL back then.

Now that same car can be $40,000+ and that's not for the pristine examples. :(

Sure looks like the real thing, and that's the point, isn't it?

Stellar job on the preservation, too.  Would never guess that's a 25 year old build!

Very interesting! When I did mine, I foiled everything except the fender vents, which I did VERY carefully with chrome paint and a brush. Yours looks better, of course. Next one of these I do, I'll try it your way. B)

Thanks a lot for all comments!

As mentioned probably several times before I love older kits like this one because opposite to some modern and pricey Japanese kits they are still a challenge.
