Chuck Most Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Both of these are based on the MPC Hogan's Heroes jeep kit. The first one has a home-made half cab, diamond plate quarter panel patches, a CJ grille, and the wheels and tires from a Revell Bronco. The second is done as a hunting rig, with a hunting platform made from Plastruct materials and aluminum mesh. Years ago the rotten body tub was replaced with a CJ-5 piece- I got this from a glue-bomb Daisy Duke Jeep. It's done as a long-abandoned hulk, so it's missing a few pieces.
espo Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 I always enjoy your take on beat up old pieces of equipment.
shoopdog Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 You have some impressive Jeep builds posted up this week. All spectacular.
Pete J. Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Most people aren't aware that there was a CJ-2A civilian version from 1945 to 1950. The "A" stood for agriculture as it was intended for farm and ranch use. I had a three speed two range gear box with two or four wheel drive and an optional power take off. It also had a manual throttle on the dash so you could run it at a constant speed. There were a plethora of plows, blades, scoops and other attachment for agricultural use. This was the first vehicle I drove. My dad had one and we ran the wheels off of it. It is still running on the farm to this day.
Ace-Garageguy Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Love 'em both. The yellow rig reminds me of Nellybelle from the old Roy Rogers show..
Tom Geiger Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 Great builds! I especially love the half cab. Everyone has seen one of these with a home built cab. There was a dark blue one with a plow that lived at a local gas station when I was growing up in NJ.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted October 21, 2017 Posted October 21, 2017 Very nice work! I've never seen a motorized hunting stand before.
Snake45 Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Very nice, both of them! I especially like the half-top. There was one of these running around my town when I was a kid, too.
PatW Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 Very good indeed Chuck. It's nice to see two Jeeps not bristling with guns.
spencer1984 Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Very nice work on both, I remember seeing 1:1 Jeeps like that first one, too. That rusting looks spot on
