donb Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 (edited) A friend built one of these awhile back. Another friend built one recently. Decided to build one myself but want some heavier flake in it. Built out of Box. Exterior Paint: Duplicolor Copper Metal Specks. Urethane clear with Copper flakes added. Dried for a days and wet sanded. Cleared again and buffed out. I obtained the exact look I wanted. Interior Paint: Flat Black. Top Paint: None. Plastic directly from the kit. A few with the top on. All comments welcome.. Edited July 4, 2018 by donb
Oldcarfan27 Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 The one time when out of scale metallic paint works perfectly. Cool color choice!
restoman Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 Very nice! I'm part-way through my own Manx build - hope it turns out half as nice as yours. Love that colour!
PatW Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 Superb! As a long time lover of the Meyers Manx and kit builder of it, well done it looks fantastic!

espo Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 I agree with everyone else, you really captured the look of the 1:1 Manx. The kit's headlights look a little large, but then these were small bodied in 1:1. I worked with a guy who built a 1:1 in '69 and we used to kid him about the "Bass Boat" Metal Flake color, but that is the way they were Gelcoated at that time. Your extra paint work really shows that.

Red318 Posted July 22, 2018 Posted July 22, 2018 That really nails it, love the big metal flake paint. That finish looks exactly the way I remember them. Wish I'd picked up one of these kits now!

We had the molds and were making buggy bodys. The flake we used was huge! The shop owner passed away a couple months ago and his brother told me he still had five 30 gallon barrels half full of the different color flake!
