Mopar - D Posted August 24, 2018 Posted August 24, 2018 This is a original AMT 1966 Corvair paint is Meadow Green. [/URL
Rat Roaster Posted August 24, 2018 Posted August 24, 2018 Truly ahead of it's time in the engineering department. And faultless in the appearance. General Motors was on top of the world at the time. Very nice execution!
cobraman Posted August 24, 2018 Posted August 24, 2018 Nice ! I had one years ago . I was in Illinois at the time and that car handled so good in the snow.
Snake45 Posted August 24, 2018 Posted August 24, 2018 Sweet! An AMT '66 Corvair was one of the very first model cars I ever bought. I still have the instruction sheet and a few random pieces of it, but the rest is long gone. Well done and model on!
bbowser Posted August 24, 2018 Posted August 24, 2018 That's a beauty! My first car was a '66 Monza, sold it to go into service. Wish I still had it, oil leaks and all
Bucky Posted August 24, 2018 Posted August 24, 2018 A nice one! I had an uncle who bought a new '65 Corvair in bright red. I was ten at the time, and thought that was a very cool car!
Ron Hamilton Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 Beautiful Build Dan. I have one suggestion. Corvair Corsas had a silver rear cove area surrounded by a chrome moulding. Really simple to do.
Mopar - D Posted August 25, 2018 Author Posted August 25, 2018 Thanks everyone for your comments! Ron, I built this one for my girlfriend who’s mom had one when she was growing up but it was a 64 so I painted it to like a 64. Thanks for the information.
donb Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 There is just something about Covairs that truly make them cool to me. Always loved them. You captured it well.
espo Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 Great looking color and interior combination. I like that you used the 140 H.P. 4 carb engine. The use of color was far greater in this era than what we have today. These cars were very under appreciated by most except those that owned or got to ride in them.
High octane Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 Very nice build on that 'Vair Dan as I bought a new one in 1965 and it was a fun time with that car.
Mopar - D Posted August 26, 2018 Author Posted August 26, 2018 Thanks for the comments I appreciate them. Nick, looks like you had a nice Corvair back then. What was your trophy for?
MrObsessive Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 That's such a neat and great looking model, and one I'm sure my Uncle would've loved as he had a '66 in nearly the same color. He still had it until he passed away back in '09........I'm not sure what became of it. I became VERY familiar with Corvairs (particularly the first gen) as a kid in the '60's as they seem to be everywhere in my neck of the woods. Of course, my Uncle owned Corvairs pretty much ever since Chevy intro'd them. We had family friends that had them, so I got to be real familiar with how they sounded when they ran, and even how the starter sounds when firing up!
Earl Marischal Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 Nice work and colour. Not a car that was seen much over this side of the Pond, in fact, I don't think I have ever seen a real one. Would I be right in thinking that, from the comments made here, the real thing was not as bad as it was made out to be? Thanks steve
