Truly ahead of it's time in the engineering department. And faultless in the appearance.  General Motors was on top of the world at the time. Very nice execution!

Sweet! An AMT '66 Corvair was one of the very first model cars I ever bought. I still have the instruction sheet and a few random pieces of it, but the rest is long gone. Well done and model on! B)

A nice one! I had an uncle who bought a new '65 Corvair in bright red. I was ten at the time, and thought that was a very cool car!

Thanks everyone for your comments!

Ron, I built this one for my girlfriend who’s mom had one when she was growing up but it was a 64 so I painted it to like a 64. Thanks for the information.

There is just something about Covairs that truly make them cool to me. Always loved them. You captured it well.

Great looking color and interior combination. I like that you used the 140 H.P. 4 carb engine. The use of color was far greater in this era than what we have today. These cars were very under appreciated by most except those that owned or got to ride in them.

That's such a neat and great looking model, and one I'm sure my Uncle would've loved as he had a '66 in nearly the same color. He still had it until he passed away back in '09........I'm not sure what became of it.

I became VERY familiar with Corvairs (particularly the first gen) as a kid in the '60's as they seem to be everywhere in my neck of the woods. Of course, my Uncle owned Corvairs pretty much ever since Chevy intro'd them. We had family friends that had them, so I got to be real familiar with how they sounded when they ran, and even how the starter sounds when firing up!

Nice work and colour.

Not a car that was seen much over this side of the Pond, in fact, I don't think I have ever seen a real one. Would I be right in thinking that, from the comments made here, the real thing was not as bad as it was made out to be?

Thanks

Thanks for the comments I appreciate them.

Nick, looks like you had a nice Corvair back then. What was your trophy for?

Winning my class at the drag strip.
