Draggon Posted October 13, 2018 Posted October 13, 2018 Here is the crown jewel in my collection. I got this from John Goschke (froghawk). It's a stunning model even by today's standards. Thanks, John!

Snake45 Posted January 26, 2021 Posted January 26, 2021 Got this Corvair in a trade with SamIAm. It's no longer a survivor, I've stripped it down and will rebuild it up again, even better. Bought this '62 Nova off eBay. It too has been stripped and will be rebuilt, but this time much closer to stock. 1
59 Impala Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 Here is a 40 Ford coupe I built way back in the day. A before and after pic. I used thread for the plug wires and the red hose coming out of the firewall is the hose from the pressure tank inside. After I restored it I left the engine alone and repaired the body and re-painted it almost the same color. 1
Bernard Kron Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 (edited) What an extraordinary thread. I'm amazed it's only now that one has been started. This is such a natural topic! Thank, you., thank you, thank you. Endless surprises here. I mean, I can't recall ever seeing a Valiant done in this early Golden Age style of kustomizing, let alone multiple (often succesful) variants. It's also great to see some very skillful and sensitive restorations (and even elaborations). Bravo! I'm purely a builder and not a collector so I don' own examples of anybody else's work. But I do have one extant example from my childhood, and also a photo or two from the period. So here they are. This is my only survivor, built when I was a kid. Card stock body work, stretched FED chassis made by combining both chassis from the Tony Nancy Double Dragster kit. It once had a front wing, too, also made from card stock. The motor and most of the decals are from the Revell '55 Chevy Hardtop kit. This is in its current "as found" condition, the way I received it many years later when my mother sent it to me after she had glued it to the base of the plastic model case it's in. I keep meaning to reproduce it using modern materials and techniques... These photos don't really fit in this thread but I thought I would include them because they were shot with an Instamatic and are almost in focus. It's a Parts Pack dragster built by me not long after those parts were first released. Unfortunately this one didn't survive. Edited January 27, 2021 by Bernard Kron 1

There's also a similar, even older "Let's See Some Survivors" thread up in General, which has also just been brought back from the dead. Be sure to see that one, too. BTW, great dragster! Love it!

Thanks, I'm usually pretty good at checking the start date on a thread but I missed it this time. Doesn't detract a bit from how cool it is, though. I'll check out the other one, too!
ybsluos Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 This is a great thread and thank you all for posting the awesome vintage styrene(and cardboard). I am impressed by those of you who have kept your childhood builds and for those who “adopted” the builds of others...I am so happy those projects have found great homes and caretakers. Great job fellas!- Mark
Beamerman Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 Man i wish these kits could tell us their storys of life...really cool!

chris chabre Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 (edited) some KILLER stuff!!! Ill play along, though I dont have many survivors the Riv has a pipecleaner Interior that I ruined like an idiot when I cleaned it. the only modification I made to it was a wheel swap.. I'll eventually clean it all up.. I'm looking for 3mm pie cleaner to redo the interior. The trailer and Lindberg hot rod pick up came from the same collection. Edited January 22, 2022 by chris chabre

Paul Payne Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 Here is a Monogram 3 Ford sport coupe. I was able to repair the broken front axle and make a matching hair pin. Otherwise as built by the original builder, including all the decals, which are in great shape.

ewetwo Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 Here are some I collected over the years. They will be heading to a new home hopefully soon. The back row were die cast model kits except for the car second from the right.
Goldfinger24k Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 Here's my earliest glue kit. Not sure how old I was but it was in the mid 70s when it was built. It's even complete with 40 years worth of dust! It's an old Monogram kit. I'm sure it was the reissue done in 75. I bought another one from ebay about 7 years ago to build up now and display them together. It was actually the 1961 issue of the kit. Maybe I'll get this one out after my current build is done.
Lobo2me Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 Wow...very cool! Amazing creativity in a lot of those wild and wacky mind blowers!!!!
