Koellefornia Kid Posted October 25, 2018 Posted October 25, 2018 Hi guys, the AMC Gremlin I built in 2012 spent a lonely life in my display case, being the only compact car in there. In 2015, I thought: let´s build him a „brother“. I purchased an MPC (Round 2) 1978 AMC Pacer X kit and kitbashed it with AMT´s ´06 Chevy Camaro. The Camaro donored it´s wheels, seats, center console, steering wheel, engine, lower front pan, gas cap and the rear diffuser including the exhaust tips. Extra parts I added: ´90s Mustang mirrors, bumperettes, scratch built fuzzy dices, speakers in the door panels, NOS bottle in the flocked trunk and an additional exhaust pipe under the frame. I had to cut the in halves (at the height of the bumperettes) and insert a strip of styrene before gluing it back together to enlarge the wheel wells and to tunnelt he frame, otherwise the Camaro wheels and the front and rear parts wouldn´t fit. The last picture shows it with it´s older brother, the Gremlin. Hope you like my little goldfish bowl. Thanks for looking, comments are always welcome.
gman Posted October 25, 2018 Posted October 25, 2018 The meanest little Pacer I've ever seen, apart from the Wayne's World racing version of course
Sixties Sam Posted October 25, 2018 Posted October 25, 2018 Very cool, and I like the Gremlin, too! Good work! Sam
espo Posted October 26, 2018 Posted October 26, 2018 A Pro Touring AMC Pacer, who would have thought. Great job melding the two together. I like the paint finish and the color.
Bucky Posted October 26, 2018 Posted October 26, 2018 Very nice work! I never wudda thought about a Pacer/Camaro kitbash! Well done! Looks great next tot the amazing Gremmy, too!
Janne Herajärvi Posted October 26, 2018 Posted October 26, 2018 Very cool concept! Im not usually fan of pro tour cars, or old american cars with big modern wheels.. But here is one example how you can blend them all together and make it look great!
DumpyDan Posted October 26, 2018 Posted October 26, 2018 Well done, there seems to be a lot of these kits showing up lately. But I have them plus the Matador, great work Oliver.
olschoolkid Posted October 26, 2018 Posted October 26, 2018 Very nice. I think the Pacer is a neat little car and bashing it with the Camaro just makes it even more neat. I think since Chrysler owns the rights to AMC, it would be neat to kitbash a Pacer or Gremlin with a newer Dodge Charger or Challenger.
'70 Grande Posted October 27, 2018 Posted October 27, 2018 Really like this build! Your conversion work is outstanding and the finish looks excellent! I was quite surprised when I saw that last photo; in my mind the Gremlin should be overall a bit smaller than that Pacer, but the photo sure makes the Gremmy look like a larger car than his younger brother.
Koellefornia Kid Posted October 28, 2018 Author Posted October 28, 2018 Thanks for the feedback! On 27. Oktober 2018 at 5:10 AM, '70 Grande said: Really like this build! I always thought that the Gremlin was smaller than the Pacer, too. According to the boxes, both kits are 1/25th scale. Maybe one of them is not correctly scaled?
'70 Grande Posted October 28, 2018 Posted October 28, 2018 Its possible the added-on custom front-end on that Gremmy just "bulks-up" the overall look of it!
Modelbuilder Mark Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 Cool, nice job on a normally odd car
