stinkybritches Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 I got a bit of painting done on the interior of the Cobra R. Unfortunately, I had some primer that went on like truck bed liner so I have to do those parts again.

Started 17 years ago, it was 5 weeks ago that I resumed, and have completed in time for the Desert Scale Classic CV19 Special contest!
Superbird McMonte Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 BOYD project number 2 completed. Dad’s Dream is realized. Im really happy with this model! I tried building a replica of this car in the late 80’s with AMT’s kit but it didn’t work out. Revell’s 62 is beautiful and goes together like a dream. The decals were made on the HP 524 with white ghost cartridge.

I'm sure the owner would be proud... Just think the real Vette is probably tucked away in some garage waiting to be found... or maybe she was restored back to factory specs... I have a bud who still owns his 61 Vette from his youth... He lives in Hawaii but he owns a house in Virginia. He ships the car here every March when he comes in for vacation lol... His Vette has been in movies filmed in Hawaii and even Howard Hues used it in the brochures for his chain of Hotels in Honolulu... Nice car... I think I'm gonna have to build it now. Are you going to do a 61 conversion? If so I can post pictures of mine. Love the Cragers and wide whites! Edited May 4, 2020 by Superbird McMonte

I'm gonna have to convert the Revell 62...I guess? Unless I can find an old annual... It's Funny how Richard's Vette can transform from film to film... He has the wide whites on it usually but I've seen it with Cragers and black walls as well as stock wheels. One time the film company actually added a Red vinyl wrap to the side coves. definitely is a restomod it has electronic fuel injection and other preformance goodies...

Beautiful cars, both of them. It's cool that th 61 was used in movies and ads. I love the early quad light Corvette, and if I built a version of one, it would be this one. Yes, there is a Corvette in the pic.
espo Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 The especially nice Revell Corvette kits were available as a '61 model and followed by the '62 year model. I'm wondering if the '61 was altered to make the '62 ?

It's tough to keep up with all the Vette models that have been produced.

MeatMan Posted May 26, 2020 Posted May 26, 2020 I haven't posted progress on this but I've been working. I had problems with my compressor so I wound up rattle canning it. Not the results I wanted but I'll stick with it. Just a bit more to go. I've got to string the winch and attach it and the hooks. Not sure if I'll add the tow hooks that came with it or fabricate some clevises. I've also got a trailer hitch I want to add under the license plate. I fabricated some later model door handles because I just couldn't see leaving on the blobs that came molded on the doors. The mirrors are from a Viper kit I parted out for the engine.
MeatMan Posted May 31, 2020 Posted May 31, 2020 Gotter done! It didn't pass my wife's initial inspection so I had to do some additional work.
Snake45 Posted June 1, 2020 Author Posted June 1, 2020 Proof of life: First color coat on the AWB Mustang, after dust-sanding.
stinkybritches Posted June 3, 2020 Posted June 3, 2020 My Cobra R is coming along slowly. No pictures at this point but I should easily finish before the deadline.
Eric Macleod Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 As you can see in another thread I am making good progress. Barring a disaster I should finally have this nearly 40 year project done.
Eric Macleod Posted June 8, 2020 Posted June 8, 2020 The L-29 Cord is essentially done and now posted Under Glass. Thanks Richard for helping to push me along on this one.
