Geno Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 Has anyone ever done a 1/24-1/25 kit of these gorgeously wicked cars? I've not been able to find anything. Thanks, Geno.
Richard Bartrop Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 Profil24 made one, but it will cost you. https://www.spotmodel.com/product_info.php?products_id=12792&language=en There are also prebuilt 1/18 models, but again, not cheap https://www.carmodel.com/brand/iso-rivolta?enc=1
MrObsessive Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 If this were a full detail kit, I'd seriously look into getting one. It's a curbside though which is a shame as that's what made the car. Italian looks with good 'ole American iron oomph!
djflyer Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 The production version has long been on my list of holy grail, especially the early twin-headlamp version. I had the matchbox car as a kid and have lusted after it ever since. 2
Geno Posted December 30, 2018 Author Posted December 30, 2018 Thanks guys, I've always loved these cars and had the Matchbox version as well, would love to put one on my shelf.
Richard Bartrop Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 No problem. I could certainly go for a mass market kit of it
Joe Handley Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 Is it me, or does that look like it could be a C2 Vette based Firebird concept?!
Gramps46 Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 Not a kit but a starting point. Pattos Place in Australia offers a slot car body which you could build up into a model. I intended to do that using a slot body which I slathered Bondo body filler into but it stalled out when Profl24 brought out their resin kit.
br67 Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 You guys must have read my mind - was just thinking the other day how cool it would be if someone released these in scale
Pico Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 The 3d warehouse has a well proportioned but simple Iso Grifo that could be 3d printed if you know how to modify the file, or are motivated enough to learn. Body only, you would have to scratchbuild the interior, dig up a chassis from somewhere, add detail such as the window frames, etc. Iso Grifo 3d warehouse image.bmp

Any good resources you have would be welcome. I did find this file of a Grifo on TurboSquid. It looks really good, but how do I know if its printable?

I haven't used any of Turbosquid's files but my66s55 on the 3d print discussion has; best to ask him. However, I don't think that it is printable as it is. I am fairly certain the body file is a membrane; it has no thickness. In order to print, the file has to have thickness, must not have any holes in it and no geometry inside it. Here's a good basic tutorial : https://all3dp.com/sketchup-3d-printing-tutorial/
djflyer Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 Thanks for the link. I will look at sketchup and see what they offer.

Turbosquid is the last resort for files. They are the middle man"s middle man. Expensive.
Pico Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 The reason I suggested the 3d warehouse Iso is because it is well designed and should be fairly easy to modify for printing.
Rob Hall Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 Beautiful cars..have seen a few at Concours shows over the years. I esp. like the later ones w/ the semi hidden headlights like this 1970. I have a few Matchbox and Corgi diecast ones from childhood.
Justin Porter Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 If only Hasegawa (or maybe Italeri) had a suggestions department. Or for that matter if Airfix really wanted to make a splash of a jump back into 1/24th scale car kits as I'm sure there are plenty of now-adult British children who had well loved blue Matchbox Grifos...
Junkman Posted January 1, 2019 Posted January 1, 2019 I dreamed this up back in 2013. Naturally I was ridiculed at the time.
Junkman Posted January 1, 2019 Posted January 1, 2019 (edited) I have a vested interest though, since I once owned a Sette Litri. Edited January 1, 2019 by Junkman

Richard Bartrop Posted January 1, 2019 Posted January 1, 2019 I'd take that over 95% of what I keep being told "the market" really wants.
Junkman Posted January 2, 2019 Posted January 2, 2019 Why nobody ever listens to me despite I'm always right is a phenomenon that will never cease to amaze me.
