THarrison351 Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 This popped up today in my search and it was too cheap to pass up. Unlike Randy's complete offering, I don't thing I'm getting the top, fender skirts, and the seller says no box and COA, but it was so pretty!
randyc Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 Those are such nice cars. Glad you found one reasonably priced. I don't have to have a box, but the more I get into this collecting hobby, the more a box is a comfort if nothing else, for the shipping to me. And someday it will be nice to have for resale. Someday...

I never find deals like that. I looked it up and even that seller doesn't have anything else close to that one, even at make offer, that I want. Durn it. I woulda been on that one.
cobraman Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Got this today . Not the scale I want to get but thought this one was pretty nice .
Gramps46 Posted January 30, 2020 Author Posted January 30, 2020 Good looking 1965 GT40 but I am wondering why they combined the '65 front end with the Gulf colors unless they are doing multiple versions.
Geno Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Picked up one of these on Monday cheap, already disassembled for mods lol.?

I think the packaging is interesting on this Auto World release with the emphasis on true scale and the printed ruler. Now if this had the correct color scheme I would be tempted to add it to my limited 1/64 collection (4 or 5) because it is pretty accurate for a 1965 GT40, well except for the tires but the wheels are OK. Wait hold the phone! I just checked and there are other color schemes available. Hmm...
randyc Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 I have one of these in a slightly different version and it is tiny compared to most other 1/64s.
randyc Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 Didn't really get a new one, but finished modifying this one. I repainted the wheel centers and relettered the tires. Need to reset the door though. Closed too tight. I can almost accept the weird stripe angle at the rear now.
Geno Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 That looks much better Randy, nice job buddy.?? You got my 2 thumbs up lol.?
Gramps46 Posted February 3, 2020 Author Posted February 3, 2020 Auto World Ford GT40 Though I don't collect the small scale when I saw Cobra Man's GT40 and looked up other 1/64 GT40s I knew I could not resist and these came in today. The blue #72 was like the first race winning GT40 (#73) at Daytona and the Blue and Orange was the first Gulf Oil Ford GT40 (should have been #11) and the beginning of a long line of Gulf Ford and Porsche cars and an early part of Jackie Ickx's career.

Those look great. I may have to go back to the bay.

randyc Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 The #72 is the one I have. I have a 1/43 Gulf car - can't remember the driver though. Need to get it out and look. Did Ickx drive a Gulf car? Might be that car? I can't een remember who made it now.
stinkybritches Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 Got this to add to my son's Mustang collection

vamach1 Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 Good news is Autoworld is doing some more GT40's.. THe bad news is they are still the MK I body pretending to be a Mark II. The nose is wrong and there are no air scoops on the rear deck. Looking at all my mini GT40's there is only ONE that actually looks like a Mark II. Can you all spot it in the photo in the post above?

I am thinking it might be in the row above the Gulf cars where there is a red one with white stripes which when you blow up the photo looks like it has rear deck scopes.

You are correct. Bub of Germany does not correct Mark II's but Lemans Mininatures makes very acurate ones in 1/87 as pre-painted kits.
