Snake45 Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 Walmart had a couple new things today. Yet another M2 '65-'66 Mustang 2+2 variant, this one a stock '65 in Poppy Red with the styled steel wheels. If you've been looking for the now semi-rare old Monogram kit that hasn't been reissued in decades, this might work nicely for you. (I already have three M2 Mustangs so don't really need another one.) Also, M2 '57 Chevy 210 hardtop in black with Marvel Mystery Oil graphics on it. Front mag wheels, open rears. A couple of us have already reviewed this fairly nice model. If I didn't already have a plain black one, I'd have grabbed it.
Gramps46 Posted October 28, 2020 Author Posted October 28, 2020 Johnny Lightning 1967 GT500 in 1/24. Off to the Argentine for the 1998 1000 Miglia.

randyc Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 I have that Shelby - Pretty dang nice. And your towing setup looks great!

I didn't have my glasses with me, so it very well may have been because of my poor eyesight.

On which one, the Mustang or the '57 Chevy? I noticed that the rear tires on the Chevy weren't as large as I'd have liked, but otherwise didn't notice anything unusual.

Nice combo, but what has the Argentine got to do with the Mille Miglia? Last time I looked, the original race series that ran to 1955 was in based in Italy, as were the subsequent commemorative runs. Brescia - Padua - Roma - Brescia. Please enlighten me!

Argentina holds what is called the 1000 Miglia for classic cars. Before BBurago moved to China from Italy they released a series of 1/24 and 1/18 sports cars with markings from the Argentine 1000 Miglia. One of them was labeled as the 1966 Cobra 427 as raced in 1998. I had never gotten one of the BBurago Cobras because of the ugly wire wheels but this one was interesting because of the green color and the markings. I have not found a picture of a real one but I did find that a Cobra was entered in the 1998 1000 Miglia and driven by Perez Gregorio and Perez Catalina. Now not having a picture I don't know if they ran without a roll bar but with bumpers. Anyway I replaced the wheels and tires with Fujimi GT40 ones but had to use rear tires both front and rear to get the sidewalls high enough and then narrow the front tires. See, I am not as daft as you thought.
keyser Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 Lol Gary. If YOU don’t have a picture, it may not exist. Fun cars.

Please don't take this as a smart ass response. It's not my intention. I couldn't come up with any combination of words that didn't sound like a smart ass. The written word is not a strong point for me.

After all the great Argentine Grand Prix drivers in the fifties such as Fangio were thought of as honorary Italians. and there is a great tradition of road races in the Argentine. Cheers, -Don.!
Gramps46 Posted October 30, 2020 Author Posted October 30, 2020 Thanks to Snake for mentioning above the M2 1965 Mustang 2+2 at Walmart so I stopped by and grabbed one. It fills a void I had for a '65 2+2 in my Mustang collection. A clerk was stocking the shelves and I asked about the diecasts. He said before COVID19 they could order the items they wanted but now what they get from the warehouse is pretty random but is based upon inventory. He also said that if the warehouse gets 200 cases of an item then they evenly distribution them to all the stores in the area they supply. Sorry for the phone pictures. Bad case of the shakes this morning.

randyc Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 Looks like you guys found some interesting pieces. I'm still waiting for USPS to deliver one stuck at a distribution center 60 miles away from me. It's been there for over a week now. Seller talked to someone and they said a machine is broken and to give it a few more days. More likely it's under a pile of election flyers.
kilrathy10 Posted November 3, 2020 Posted November 3, 2020 (edited) Found this one at Sam's, today!!! Couldn't believe it was there... I was there, yesterday, and didn't see it... But it ain't there no more... Mine!!! Man... $15!!!! Edited November 3, 2020 by kilrathy10
