Modlbldr Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Yes! Never seen this done in black. I like it. Great work! Later-
cobraman Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 I don't believe I ever saw a black one either. Very sharp.
GoodbuildNY Posted February 25, 2020 Author Posted February 25, 2020 Thanks guys,...and Richards correct lol ,it’s Fathom green. It’s one of those colors that looks best in the sunlight since it’s fairly dark

Modlbldr Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 I stand corrected. It is green. Hard to see in smaller photos on the phone. Beautiful color though. Later-
kelson Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 A real beauty!,i built a 69 'vette last year in the same color
Bills72sj Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 Awesome result. Love the interior detail. Especially the woodgrain.
Tommy124 Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 Beautiful result! The several shades of GREEN all blend into each other nicely!
espo Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 I agree with everyone else, this is a beautiful looking convertible. Great attention to details in both the interior and the engine. The colors you used for the different components under the hood look exact.
Kmb0319 Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 BEAUTIFUL work!! Yes, Fathom Green is my favorite, too. I did mine the same except for some dog dish caps and houndstooth interior. Like you said, light does wonders for it.... Shade: Sunlight:
christian-w Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 Great Color! It reminds me on my Coupe. Funny. How did you do the Wood grain in the interior? That Looks really great.

That Looks really great. Usually when doing wood grain my method is I paint a base color down ( depending on the shade desired for end result) a shade of tan. Next I follow up with various shades of fine tip brown sharpies for grain. After that I have an old square bottle of basic testors brown in which most of the pigment has settled leaving a translucent brown at the top of the jar. I put a coat of that over the top and done. You can put more layers on to darken it or start with a darker shade of tan as a base.
br67 Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 Great job Dave. Where did you source the redlined and magnum 500s?

Thanks Brandon, IIRC the wheels came from the Amt 70 chevelle kit. As for the tires ,they came from my parts box but I’ve had them for probably 20 years. They were from an aftermarket company but I can’t recall which one. Nowadays they’re fairly readily available from many kits and aftermarket sources.
1972coronet Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 Man alive , THAT is a gorgeous drop-top ! L-89 ? Forget about it ! Such a great idea... I wonder if any were actually made ? No power-rating-increase ; however , the weight-savings would more than compensate (especially on a convertible) . Keep 'em coming , Dave !
