virus cancellations

The NBA game between Utah Jazz and Oklahoma City was cancelled, even after everyone got there. What a bummer that must have been.

Now NASCAR and Indy Car races are participants and essential personnel only: no spectators.  Other stick-and-ball sports are not allowing spectators.

How wierd that must be for players/racers to do their thing with nobody watching.

I know these measures are for the best, but I sure hope things get restored soon (by Summer maybe?).

Strange virus, many older and people with compromised immune system are dying but some young people are dying. They told tonight it started in an open market in China from a bat..

MLB spring training games cancelled today also plus opening day will be delayed by 2 weeks for now but may change because of not knowing how bad this virus hits us here in the states.Also here in So Ca church services have been cancelled also but our Pastor will still preach and it will be streamed live as usual on the weekend.

Who is "they"?   Too vague. Any references? Reliable source? Trust no one!   Last time (in the thread that was locked) you said it was from meat in a Walmart meat market.  We need to make sure the info  is coming from  multiple trustworthy sources.

My uneducated Truck Driver guess would be it started in some lab in China.

I just read that Barrett Jackson’s Auto auction Scheduled for the middle of April in Palm Beach Florida has been cancelled,and rescheduled for some time in October.However the Mohegan Sun and Las Vegas auctions will go on as planned...Public panic is setting in.

Next Thursday the wife has to go back to North Western in Chicago for more tests. She is very nervous about it.

Our family doctor and cardiologist are both calling patients and telling those with just general followups to not come to the office but to call on that day and they will determine if you need to come in.

I asked if we were getting charged for that call (as an appointment) and they wouldn't answer.LOL

I went yesterday to pick up a sample inhaler for the wife and they hospital the doctor's office is in looked like a ghost town!

All the self check-in kiosks are posted out of order and signs telling people if they have a cough and fever to only enter through the ER entrance.

Hand sanitizer stations at every corner  and even IN the elevators!

Thing is what good are they against a VIRUS???

The world news was the source, China has open meat markets. This virus is from a bat. 20/20 had a special on it if you have on demand you can still watch.

Going grocery shopping?  Wanna grab a shopping cart handle?  No. Not anymore.  I've advised the wife, surgical rubber gloves box at the console in car, take them off after you take the cart back.  Spray the hands and steering wheel with alcohol spray disinfectant.

Granted, my wife is often ill with flu and other ailments.  We practice cleaning door knobs and when going to the garbage cans, only with rubber gloves.  I'm from a medical lab profession, and lucky.  I haven't had the flu or similar for more than 23 years.

Just be safe, and do finger lickin' good only at home after you've cleaned your possibly absolutely infected fingers and hands.

This can be safe for you, keep your head.

Went to the Meijer store at 9:30 last night. People walking around looking shell shocked!

The grocery side of the store looked like it had been looted right down to boxes on the floor and can goods rolling around in the aisles.

Found the few things I went for and by then they were shutting down a lot of the checkout lanes with only about 4 in line at each. Most looked to be just trying to do normal shopping on what was left.

Bread aisle empty, meat department only had a few high dollar cuts of meat left. Pasta aisle was bare.

Most ready to eat canned goods were all gone too.

Went to Kroger and found our corned beef brisket for St Patty's day dinner. Their store was not as trashed but lots of bare shelves. But their meat department still had a fair amount pf stuff left.

The guy from dairy said they had a special milk delivery and that in this one day had sold as much milk as they do in a week!

Didn't even bother to look at the paper goods aisles.LOL

Our local grocery store in cortland ny  was refilling paper products and buyers were picking up the usual items. The meat dept was well stocked , wife noticed the pasta isle was cleared out as was canned goods

I asked stockman about paper products and they were getting delivery as soon as truck could arrive .

Have a friend works at a place that makes toilet paper and paper towels. He said they are now on overtime!

At some point (a week or so) the demand will subside because all the idiots that stocked up for a month will not be running out every day to buy more.  Of course before the madness stores probably scheduled their normal restocking deliveries but the media hyped up all the temporary shortages so people have just made things worse.  One thing this has shown that many people will only care about themselves and could care less how it impacts the general population.

Saw that this morning when I went to Kroger.

Talked a minute with the store manager and he said corporate told them they may use this as an opportunity to permanently cut back the store hours at many stores.

Said he wouldn't mind it here as sales have been way down during the hours between midnight and 6am. He said it dropped off when they stared closing the pharmacy early.

Just heard that the local schools around me are gonna be shut down for two weeks.Man nothing like this ever happened to me when I was in school.???No but seriously,I hope people stay healthy,and most of all,don’t panic.

 In Ohio:  As of 9 p.m. Tonight all bar's are closed Until further notice, And Restaurants will be closed to the point of take out (drive Thru) or Delivery only . Smaller towns like Van Wert don't have grub hub, Door Dash or the other food delivery companies.Heck we don't have Uber or lyft  here either!!!!

Interesting that the coronavirus hysteria is affecting everything, but that the NIH estimates around 300,000 deaths are caused each year in the USA alone by obesity, and people continue to shovel down calories like there's going to be no food tomorrow.

Exercising some self-discipline would save a lot more lives than running in circles terrified about some bug, and buying up all the toilet paper.

Oh...sorry. That would require a little rational thought. Never mind.

After this blows over, my son and I are going to get tee shirts with "I survived COVID-19 and all I got was this lousy tee shirt" and sell them on the boardwalk here in Rockaway Beach. They're sure to go viral.
