Dann Tier Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 (edited) Hey, everyone! here is where my custom Mini is right now. The body needs decals , and clear, and the rest of it just needs to be detailed, and assembled -should only take a LITTLE more time, lol -Photo 1-3; I removed the factory fender flares, and made me own out of Milliput. The wheels came from a Fujimi Skyline GTR 2000 , and the wide tyres came from a Tamiya racing VW GTI -old kit....Oh ya, i lowered the ride height too. -Photo 4; Miscillanious bits ready for detailing, and assembly...alot of Fixed-up Minis even have center columns -this will too! CabDriver Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 I love it! I’ve always liked these cars! A guy I knew took me out in his once - they’re like a go kart crossed with a roller skate! The color is great, and I like that center console too. I’ve seen some of these with a British flag for a roof graphic...I keep thinking I’d like to do one with a stars n stripes roof - as if they licensed the design to an American company back in the day and there were American made Minis or something! Not sure what a US take on this car would be, but I like daydreaming about it! I know these did well in Japan too, I saw a show on TV about them a while back. Anyhoo, say all that to say - cool build! I like it! ???

89AKurt Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 Don't know if I should show this to Dann, he might consider it a challenge. ? When I owned a MINI (the new big and fat ones), attended a couple of Mini Meets. This one had a VTEC transplant, kicked butt on the autocross. Yes, very fun cars.

LOL...no worries of that, Bud!, i prefer to have my Minis with their factory motors all beefed up, lol...they sure do look like a blast!!!
espo Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 (edited) Great color and the flares look good. You can't look at a Mini and not smile anyway, and one like you're doing, is well like the perfect excuse to make your self really laugh in a demented fashion. Edited April 14, 2020 by espo

Dann Tier Posted April 19, 2020 Author Posted April 19, 2020 Got some Mini work done today....I got the decals on, and tomorrow i will start the clear coat process.
Matt Bacon Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 ...you don't want to "over-tire' it, Dann... it won't go sideways in the approved Mini racing style properly! ? best, M.

Dann Tier Posted April 23, 2020 Author Posted April 23, 2020 I sprayed the last coat of clear on this little bugger too!
beeRS Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 Good work on those arches Dann. I would never have guessed they were Milliput. Those Wheels suit the Mini perfectly. I'm going to have to track down some of those wheels for a Ford Escort project.

Dann Tier Posted May 21, 2020 Author Posted May 21, 2020 Hey, everyone!...back to this little bugger for now!....all thats left to do before assembly of the interior, is to add the guage decals, and steering wheel center. I decided to paint some Knarlwood accents. I may actually SB speakers that have the wood around them too...i will see after its all stuck together -dont wanna have a forest in there.
beeRS Posted May 21, 2020 Posted May 21, 2020 Nice work on the interior. I especially like the wood effect. How did you create that?
89AKurt Posted May 21, 2020 Posted May 21, 2020 Really like the wood detail. Is that Burled English Walnut, Canadel, Mahogany, or Sapele?
PatW Posted May 21, 2020 Posted May 21, 2020 Superb start Dann. We had two brothers who lived near us in the late '60's who built the Cooper 'S's for customers to race and raced a pair themselves also a guy who lives in Silverstone village 5 miles from us who still races one!
espo Posted May 21, 2020 Posted May 21, 2020 Great looking interior. I also like how you did the wood trim. The instruments as look good.
shucky Posted May 21, 2020 Posted May 21, 2020 Wow, the color, paint-work, fender flares, etc all look fantastic! Where is the dolly from? Did you make it?
