Tom99 Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 I built my 68 Volkswagen as the American version, with the blade bumpers and high back seats. It's painted 1968 Volkswagen Luna White.
David G. Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 Nicely done! I built mine as an Aussie RHD model. David G.
peteski Posted June 12, 2020 Posted June 12, 2020 (edited) Nice! You didn't mention who makes that kit? Edited June 12, 2020 by peteski
Sixties Sam Posted June 13, 2020 Posted June 13, 2020 Very clean build! Looks good in white, and the interior detail is great! Sam
Tom99 Posted June 13, 2020 Author Posted June 13, 2020 I thank everyone for the kind words! This is the kit I used.

KMcc Posted June 20, 2020 Posted June 20, 2020 Very nice! Had a dull red one in college, great reliable transportation. Always wanted to replicate it with that kit, but I wasn't sure what to do about the bumpers. Did you scratch build yours or are they aftermarket. Now I'm motivated to start mine. Absolutely spot on build!
doorsovdoon Posted October 17, 2020 Posted October 17, 2020 Lovely. Can't believe I haven't built one of these yet. Very nice work on this.

Absolutely spot on build! The old tool Revell VW Convertible has the right bumpers.

Absolutely spot on build! To do a proper conversion you need to cut the front and rear wings complete with the valances off the convertible and graft them onto the saloon, as the bumper hight was higher and they deleted the air intake grills on the wings, The bonnet and bootlid are slightly different to clear the higher bumper, I started this conversion but it went onto the back-burner Edited October 17, 2020 by GeeBee

TransAmMike Posted October 22, 2020 Posted October 22, 2020 Very nice clean OOB unmodified build Tom. Finishing a mild modified version of the same kit.
KMcc Posted November 9, 2020 Posted November 9, 2020 Thank you Mattias and Geoff. Greatly appreciate the information. Seems like I might have my winter project.
