Mr. Graham's books (more than one edition) on Aurora are very good too. Written in the same format of his books the histories of Monogram and Revell. All three are well worth picking up. I do wish Mr. Graham, or someone else, would do books in the same style and in depth books on the histories of AMT, MPC, and JoHan. Maybe something for Mr. Boyd to consider?

Scott....there have been several discussions about an AMT history book with several reputable authors and at least two possible publishing sources.

One of the issues is that AMT's history and kit catalog is immensely larger than those of the companies Mr. Graham has covered so far, so I am not sure that the format he used in the earlier books would work for an AMT history.

Right now, my publisher is concentrating on the new book we just announced, to I doubt they'll be interested in something like this for at least another couple years at the earliest.

Several of the key original AMT execs are still alive and well, and I briefly interviewed two of them for my new Drag Racing Kits book (though not in anywhere near the detail the subject deserves).

I do hope that someday someone (both author and publisher) will take the plunge on this subject, especially as these folks are both (mid 80's to early 90's) and we may not have them around for another decade or longer.

TIM

PS - Graham's books were helpful resources for several fact checks for my latest book; I completely agree that they're excellent reference materials.

And Bob Reder, who was the longtime #2 at Monogram, self-published a book on Monogram's history which was also very informative; unfortunately he passed away years ago and I think finding a copy of that book would be exceedingly difficult.

TB

PPS - Bob Johnson, the longtime product manager at Monogram and then Revell, is also compiling information from employees of Revell and Monogram, as part of building a further reference source on those two companies, but I don't believe he has near-term plans to publish the info per se, at least at this time.   And for many years Dennis Doty was also compiling a reference base on AMT kits, if I am remembering correctly.

Both Mr. Graham's and your books on models are some of best books on those subjects out there. Mr. Doty is also a good writer too. Somebody. Mr. Graham. Mr. Doty. Or you. Has to do a good history someday on the three companies who's main focus was car models. I like your writing style, so I'm hoping it maybe you.

As I noted above, despite my low interest in subject of your latest book, I have preordered a copy. I feel you that good of a job with your writing. I do have some interest in the subject. But you being the author, was a deciding fact in ordering the book for sure. And even if your next book after that is not exactly what I have suggested here, I look forward to what ever it might be.

I was hinting at having Tim approach his publisher with the idea of separate books on the histories of AMT, Jo-Han and MPC.  I'm not at all interested in the drag racing book, but the subject matter is a great idea.  I'm sure the book will do well, as would comprehensive histories of these three companies.

According to David Dale who pre-ordered his copy a few weeks ago, he received a notice yesterday from the seller that the book is now in stock and his copy is on its way to him.  Good news!

Thanks everyone for your interest, and especially thanks to all of you who pre-ordered the book!   Cheers...>TIM

A history on all the model / automotive companies I think would be cool.

Just a heads-up that as of today, Friday August 28, the book is showing temporarily sold out at Amazon.com.  They will probably restock soon, but you can order now from CarTechBooks.com.  It will also soon be available at modelroundup.com,  AutoWorld.com, and the Model Cave in Ypsi, Michigan, among others.   TIM

Sold out all ready on Amazon? I hope I order mine before that happened. And get my copy from them soon.

Huh. I ordered mine a couple weeks ago from Amazon and haven't heard anything from them about it yet.

Just checked with our local Amazon, and it reads it's not yet available.

I'm sure Amazon will restock quickly.  I also suspect (but don't know for sure) that the reason it shows temporarily out of stock is because of all you guys who pre-ordered yours and essentially used up all the copies in their first order from the Publisher.

The book is definitely here now, I just got my own author's copies last night, delivered by the CarTech warehouse in SE Michigan.

Best....TIM

PS - thanks for all the pre-orders, guys, you rock!   TB

Tim, are Pasteiner's or the Model Cave going to stock your book?

Model Cave definitely yes; I presume Pasteiner's will as well....TIM

I just received a delivery update from Amazon stating my updated delivery time is now between September 27 and November 1.
I ordered it on August 15. Can’t you speed up that printing press down in your basement, Tim. Lol.
It looks like this is going to be another winner for you Tim.
Thanks for all you do for our hobby. You are a very positive voice and I always look forward to your posts.

Huh. I haven't heard a word from them yet about my order. :angry:

September 27 to November 1? Wow, that's quite a spread.

On the positive side, in my experience Amazon usually delivers BEFORE the promised date. Last thing I ordered from them was toilet paper, back at the peak of the Great TP Famine. They gave me a delivery date that was from 7 to 14 days out. My case of TP arrived via UPS the very next day:blink:

Amazon says Sept 27-Oct 30 for mine.  In my experience, they usually beat the estimated dates.  I’ve been a customer of Amazon for over 20 years, they rarely disappoint.

No word from Car-Tech yet on the pre-order, but I've received the two books that I ordered with it - so I know I'm on the list.  patience, patience

Delivery updates keep getting better everyday. Lol.
I’m now scheduled to receive Tim’s book on September 16th.
Yaay- I can hardly wait !!
I recently switched over to the drag car venue with my builds, so Tim’s book is just what the Dr ordered
