tiking Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 First things, first. I'd like to thank Andreas Rousounelis for inspiring me with his many awesome frame dioramas. He is a master with these kinds of dioramas. Giving this is my first try, I decided to go with another loading bay theme for trucks. It was the simplest idea, since I like trucks, and had built a similar scene before. The scale is 1/24 using scratch built materials. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Side by side comparison. The photo on the right is the photo that inspired me to make the photo on the left:
Anglia105E Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 This one is to your usual high standard, Charles...... and the photo on the left looks more realistic than the photo on the right ! Lots of subtle detail, including different types of material, such as steel, brickwork, rubber and concrete...... and many others, I am sure. Rust and weathering effects, it's all there. Very nicely presented diorama, Charles. David

Thank you for that too.

Spex84 Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 This is brilliant! So carefully observed, and the form-factor of packing a diorama into a flat frame is genius...much easier to store and display (and potentially sell!) than a traditional diorama. I can't decide which detail I like the most...possibly the overlapping rubber flaps that bracket the door, and the way they have slightly curled and frayed edges. Are those made of tape of some sort?

Thank you kindly for your assessment. Glad you like the final results. The rubber flaps were made from a material i had collected from a dumpster, if i remember correctly. Don't really remember from what object, as it was a really long time ago. I usually collect lots of junk, for possible future builds, and this was one of them. It looks to feel like nylon, but not sure. I cut up the pieces and painted them black and weatheted them. The final results is what you see. 11 hours ago, cobraman said: Man, that looks terrific ! Davoski Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Tiking, this is fantastic as usual, very realistic! You and Spex84 are right that picture frames have great potential for dioramas. I have been buying truly awful frames from second-hand shops for around $4.00 (sometimes the worst ones are the best ones). Here is one of my ideas:
David G. Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Spectacular work on this! Your skill at capturing the feel and appearance of various materials is phenomenal. David G.

TonyK Posted September 14, 2020 Posted September 14, 2020 I was thinking the same as stated earlier. Your diorama looks more real than the real thing. Don't know how that's possible except to say you're skills are amazing. Enjoyed looking at this.
