The theme is based on a car I saw in a magazine. The modifications to the kit include creating the chrome trim on the body. The interior has had a tuck & roll treatment on the seats and door panels and the rear package try as well. I added a painted wood grain effect to the dash and window moldings. The engine is as in the kit but with fuel IMG_1411.thumb.JPG.103c323b0542ce3b730bf854b930d33b.JPGlines as well as plug wires and heater hoses added.

That's a great looking 48! I just built this kit a few months ago, and loved everything about it, except the hood fit at the cowl, but I finally got it to look pretty good. I want to find another one(coupe or sedan delivery), they're great kits.

I have to agree, I like it better now than when I started. I also know all about the Hood fit issue thank you.

Very nicely done indeed! This kit is in my queue as an upcoming project. You did a super job on the chrome trim, replacing the kit decals which allowed you to include the correct chrome strips on the skirts. I assume you applied half-round styrene strip and then foiled it. If so, do you remember what size strip you used? It looks just right!

Thank you for your comments on the Aerosedan. While the kits chrome foil was a nice possibility it would still look like chrome tape. What I used on the bottom of the body running between the fenders was Plastruct # 90884 3 mm half round. On the 1:1 car this is a little larger than the moldings above. The additional moldings are made using # 90881 1.5 mm half round. Trying to get the position of the moldings as close as I could I studied photos on line of the real cars and the pictures I had of the car in the magazine. From there I just winged it. Kind of fun once you get into it. I'm bringing over a picture from my build with the body in primer as it may help also. Please post your build I'd like to see what you do with this great kit.

Thanks for the photo with the strips in progress and the specs on the stock you used. This will be enormously helpful for my project. I had despaired of doing the "Streamline" chrome moldings because, like you, I just thought the chrome tape wasn't convincing. Also, using the decals would have made matching the additional skirt moldings missing from the kit virtually impossible. Looking .back over your photos I realized that the kit chrome molding piece on the leading edge of the rear fenders is a handy guide to spacing the chrome strips. Again, many thanks for the info, it's the breakthrough I needed to get my project started. Mine will be an Old School "Bomb" lowrider in two tone paint, but I wanted to include as much of the original stock bodywork and trim as possible. Once I start it I'll post it up here.

Glad you are able to find this helpful. The "bomb" style was much what I was after also. Should you have any questions on this in the future I would be glad to be of assistance to you in any way.
