cobraman Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 Just finished this old kit . Built one years ago and it did not go well . I just could never get the doors to work . This time I got the doors to work kinda, sorta ! Painted bright white with red interior and used the white interior decals . Box stock with the exception of the mag wheels .
Bob Ellis Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 Terrific job on a kit most people forget about.
AMT68 Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 That's a sharp looking color combination and an excellent build overall. I have the 1974 release of this Monogram kit which was dubbed a "Special Interest Series" I haven't decided on a color combination for mine but after seeing this one I do like the red interior.
bisc63 Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 Well done! Nice job and cool color combo; dig the squarebirds!
Sam I Am Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Wow Ray! Your model looks eerily familiar...
cobraman Posted December 9, 2020 Author Posted December 9, 2020 Wow ! That really is close to what I did.
cobraman Posted December 9, 2020 Author Posted December 9, 2020 Thanks guys. Am I the only one that has trouble with opening doors ?
espo Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Great looking build. I like the color contrasts, usually these were all one color on the exterior.

Getting ready to install the Kelsey Hayes wires and rebuild the front suspension. I will have to pick up one of those kits. I never knew they came with the hardtop.
Danno Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Good job, Ray. As mentioned above, we just don't see that many builds of that kit. Good to see. ??
slusher Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 Beautiful. Thunderbird Ray! I love it, I had two Thunderbirds when I was younger...
TooOld Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 Bright White is the perfect color for this big bird . Great to see this kit built , excellent work Ray ! This is one of the very first models I ever built back in '65 or '66 , I've always wanted to build it again .
TarheelRick Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 Very nice work, clean build. I have tried opening doors with limited success, but mostly non-factory opening doors. Most of the time I glue them shut. I have this kit in my stash, borrowed the bubble top for another custom I have in the works, am thinking of early NASCAR for mine.
cobraman Posted December 10, 2020 Author Posted December 10, 2020 Thank you fellows. Ricky, I would like to see a Nascar version done. What did you put your bubble top on ? I was thinking of using mine on a 57 Chevy if it would fit.
ewetwo Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 That is sharp looking. And I hate opening doors and trunks also LOL.
gseeds Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 Awesome looking bird ! I’ve got one in the works now, should be done shortly, having problems with the doors myself, I’m putting the bubble top on it so I’m thinking the smart thing to do Is close them permanently!! Yours looks beautiful!
lucky 130 Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 Just saw this Ray. A beautiful car and a great color combo. To think it's not even a Cobra!
