Fat Brian Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 I've been wanting to build a big, ignorant late 70s style build with the Revell Torino for a while now. Built basically out of the box I swapped the tires with AMT rubber and wheels from the pro-street Superbee. I also swapped the kit aircleaner for triangle ones also from the Superbee kit, headers from a Monogram 5.0 kit, valve covers from the Revell Boss 302 Mustang, and an a/c compressor. The Boss hood scoop is from the 69 Cougar kit and the rear spoiler is from a Revell 69 Mustang. Finally, I swapped the stock exhaust for side pipes from the Monogram 70 Chevelle.
doorsovdoon Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 Man, that looks amazing! This is what Sarsky & Hutch should have been driving! Nice work.
Captain Spaulding Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 Nice job, that's one bad ass looking Torino.
Spottedlaurel Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 Nice one, I really like the period street machine look you've given it.
Fat Brian Posted April 8, 2021 Author Posted April 8, 2021 Thanks everyone, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out for a quick build.
Dodge Driver Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 Pretty sweet machine! Are those Gabriel Hi-Jackers I see under there??

bisc63 Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 (edited) Oh yeah! I can almost hear the Parliament/Funkadelic blasting from the 8-track! Edited April 12, 2021 by bisc63 typo
Tiger89 Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 Awesome! took quite a few photos of what is supposed to be the actual Starsky & Hutch TV car at a local show, so I have those to work with whenever I get to this kit.

It's builds easy but the fit is a bit too tight in places. I had to sand the edges of the interior down along the window sill for it to fit all the way in after everything was painted. Same with the hood, you will need to take a bit off the sides of the hood for it to fit after everything is painted. The rear glass is also tight after the body is done.
Tiger89 Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 Thanks for the heads up on the Revell kit. I'm working on a resin-body '69 Mustang hardtop, which will sort of have the same theme, big & littles, jacked up in the rear, etc.
Oldcarfan27 Posted April 10, 2021 Posted April 10, 2021 (edited) That's the 70s in a nutshell! Stance, sidepipes, tire combination, engine induction - check. All it needs is more diamond tuck, shag carpeting and a CB antenna! Edited April 10, 2021 by Oldcarfan27
