Yeah, when you talk about stance on a drag car, roll cage positioning is one of the most critical elements. Raising it helped immensely.

Back in the late seventies, Matchbox made a little Beetle with cartoon like proportions and a giant V8 in the back. Long before Hot Wheels, Johnny Lightning etc got into making accurate drag cars, I cut one up into spookily similar proportions to your project, Rodney.  Seeing this makes me want to finish it!

Cheers

Pretty much got done what I wanted to do this weekend. Frame to body mount, brought rear axle higher in the fame, necessitating changing the frame... wheel wells, blower hole cut on hood and firewall....I'll let the pictures tell the story... -RRR

Excellent work on the body flip mount, that’s more detail than you showed me yesterday. Firewall is so neat with the rounded magneto relief and you’re the master at making those big drag car wheel wells. I also love the fitted hood hole. This thing is gonna be so killer!

You are simply fearless with that SawzAll!  Your ability to manipulate styrene is inspirational.  As others have noted, and I agree, the body proportions and stance  are spot on.  I look forward to following this project to its conclusion.

Painting weekend....

I decided to use a couple of partial cans of the now discontinued Testors lacquer "Extreme" or "One Coat" as it was called. This paint goes on way too thick and tends to bubble up if too much is applied. I decided to decant it and shoot it through my airbrush rather than take any risks....I glue a piece of Evergreen tube to the nozzle to decant without a big mess. This works great.

Amazing, right?  Who'd a thunk??  Only other guy I know of that would paint a drag kar green... is Richard Rollins, Gas Monkey!  RRR has several green drag kars, don't you Brother?  Looks impressive from every angle! -KK

Thanks for the kudos, guys. The tape job even impressed myself! The tape is from an automotive paint supply place. UrAmask is the brand. Apparently its made of rice paper, super thin with a minimum of edge. Onward to decaling now..... -RRR
