Tom Geiger Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 (edited) I’ve had this Maisto kit a long time.. in fact I have two of them and no idea where they even came from! It is prepainted nicely in black, body metal, fender unit plastic, and I immediately saw it as a two tone. I didn’t act then but recently pulled it off the kit stack and since I’ve been painting a lot of red lately I gave the fenders a shot of Duplicolor Red primer followed with Cherry Red that my Studebaker Gull Wing is painted. It came out wonderfully! Then I started playing with different Duplicolor reds for the interior. I also wanted to try out embossing powders for carpet so I did that as well. Now a question… Original kit tires / wheels? Very nice units I may wish to save for a different project… Or slot wheels and black walls? Or? Edited August 14, 2021 by Tom Geiger 1
TarheelRick Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 Very nice looking '36. I think since the 1:1 builder sprung for a nice two-tone paint job, he/she (got to be PC) would probably also shell out some cash for a wheel/tire upgrade. Those stockers, with a little bit less shine would be excellent on a fenderless roadster/coupe. Just my thoughts.
Painted Black Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 I'd like the stock wheels painted black and tucked in some...
Ceaser_Salad Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 Cute colour choice, reminds me of a ladybird.
cobraman Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 I like the WW's better. But at least the fronts need to be tucked a bit I think.
bobthehobbyguy Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 I like the slotted wheels. Cool little project. Great color scheme.
Misha Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 That’s a good looking project Tom. The red really sets it apart from the run-of-the-mill cabriolets. I would prefer the whitewalls as well, again with a reduced track overall. Looking forward to seeing it under glass. Cheers Misha
Zippi Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 NIce looking 36 Ford project. The white walls give it that old school look and the slotted mags give it the Hot Rod look. I like the mags.
Dave Darby Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 I like both, but I'd suggest lowering the front end some.

Due to the way the chassis is configured I can’t adjust the ride height. It would be nice to lower the front. I did detail out the kit provided rolling stock. Added flat black where the slots are and a red stripe. 1

cobraman Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 Looks like your going for the whites ? Good choice.
Tom Geiger Posted August 30, 2021 Author Posted August 30, 2021 Ford is finished! Many thanks to those who commented, your suggestions were incorporated into the project! The Under Glass thread: 1
Sixties Sam Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 Looks great! I like the two-tone color scheme a lot! Sam
