I posted about my modelling experience to repair my grill, and now I have worked out enough bugs to put her on the road. Summer is almost over, but I am gonna log some miles before the snow flies in Ohio.

1971 Monterey 2 door hardtop, 72,000 original miles, original paint. I am going to paint the roof soon because I do not like vinyl tops.

My only other modification will be dual exhaust.

Posting an as purchased pic first.

Who else has a cool older daily? Especially up north here.

"Would ya look at the size of that TRUNK!"  That would justify the price of a Costco membership.

I'll have the get a pic to show the vastness of it......

Very cool.

I'd throw an air ride system on it and call it a day. Low n slow. :)

Nahhh leaving it alone. Rides and drives beautifully as is. Besides, I have very little investment into it, gonna keep it that way.

Not really older but I'm about to use this as a daily once it's finished.

More than 25 years old is older enough. Always liked that color on a Fox. Nice

I just don't drive it that much. No AC and it's been a hot and muggy summer here.

I have managed to get most of the things I need for the interior over the summer though. New upholstery kit, headliner material, carpet kit for the plastic around the hatch area, etc.

Really nice Mercury, Andy I like room in a car. Love the wheels. Maybe someday I will find a cruiser but right now one is all I need..

Not so much a summer only, but definitely not a full time driver...actually in the process of updating the brakes now.

Thanks Steve , your TA is no slouch !! The fella that sold us the Mach 1 had a gorgeous white WS6 Firebird also, I wanted so badly .

The Mach is a fun car , surprisingly its only 305 HP..kinda low and slow for a pony . My Ram 1500 will spank it right down the road lol

So you have a pretty nice Mercury to work with. What are your thoughts on the exterior ? I'm thinking about the roof where there used to be a vinyl roof. 1. leave it alone ? 2. A new vinyl roof covering ? 3. Body color repaint or a contrasting color ? 4. Go with some custom graphics maybe a little low ridder style graphics or a nice metal flake paint.

Thoughts for this one are simple. Roof to be painted to match the rest of the car, dual exhaust, done. I have other cars I am gonna tinker with more.
