1959scudetto Posted December 4, 2021 Posted December 4, 2021 From the same rainy photo session, also built at the same time as my 58 Impala, here is my favorite JoHan model: Spraypainted and clearcoated metallic green paint (don't remember the name), trim again brushed-on Humbrol silver, whitewalls are brushed with Humbrol matt white enamel. Someday I will disassemble it and repaint the interior (was sprayed in light green from the can) - again: no reference material back in 1984! 1
Classicgas Posted December 4, 2021 Posted December 4, 2021 Looks great. Is that posed on a real one? Color of the background looks darn close.
Geno Posted December 4, 2021 Posted December 4, 2021 (edited) Gorgeous, better get them windows up.? Edited December 4, 2021 by Geno
happy grumpy Posted December 4, 2021 Posted December 4, 2021 That's a beauty Helmut , you take good care of your models. Too bad we don't see enough mopars of that era from manufacturers, Ah well. one can only hope. I too sometimes rebuilt models to change the color or to correct errors but in your case I don't see anything wrong with it. It looks perfect from here.
Zippi Posted December 4, 2021 Posted December 4, 2021 Good looking DeSoto. Body color looks really nice.
beeRS Posted December 5, 2021 Posted December 5, 2021 Nice job ??. Researching colours is so easy in the modern world, we forgot how difficult it used to be. Looks like a factory combo though. I have one or two models dating back to 1984; they look terrible now.
David G. Posted December 5, 2021 Posted December 5, 2021 Excellent detail work on the trim and scripts. The color looks great as does your paintwork. Nicely Done! I do enjoy seeing these old JoHan Mopars being built. I wish there was a way to bring them back into production. David G.

Thanks, Lee ! Yes, I placed my models for photographic purposes on the tinted sliding glass roof of the 1:1 car I owned back then.

Thank you very much, Mario - my models have been kept in closed boxes over the years - this might be the reason for their good condition. Well, you know the faults of your own models best. I did not strive to achieve perfect factory correct replicas (almost no reliable references in the mid 80's) - moreover, I used spraycans I had at hand which seem fitting for the models to me, but there are some details - here: the interior - that I would like to address to when I find some time to get at it (at the moment I'm modifying and repainting the interior of a Ferrari 250 SWB Spider California I built around 1988) On 12/5/2021 at 9:55 AM, beeRS said: Nice job ??. Thank you Sonny - I liked the color so I used it for that one (I've got no idea if there ever was a DeSoto in a similar green, but I won't change it). Thanks, David, for your nice comment - I'm with you concerning the old JoHan Mopars that unfortunately will never again see the light of the day.
