I pulled the 56 out of the Purple pond and sprayed it down with some Easy-Off.  It seem to work pretty fast on the 60 Ranchero so we'll see how it works on the 56.  As soon as it's stripped down I can get the tubs glued in and start working on the front suspension.

Well.....I had the body parts in the Purple Pond for a few days and that wasn't working.  I switched to Easy-Off and that worked a little better but only took a little more off.  I've been scrubbing the parts with various brushed and I'm not having much luck.  I was scrubbing the parts with the brushes every day then switched to a few times a day.  Not sure what it's going to take to get all the paint off.  Guess I'll put the parts back into the Purple Pond til after the holidays and hope that works.

Try placing the body parts in a zip lock bag and spray alot of oven cleaner into the bag then seal and leave it for a couple days. Also helps to move the parts around in the sealed bag to keep them constantly coated with the cleaner.

Thank's for the reply Luke.  I did have the parts in a big zip lock bag to start off with.  After a couple days I took the parts out of the bag where I could scrub them with a brush.

Ok....I'll give the Easy-Off one more shot in a zip lock bag.  It may not look like it but I soaked the parts with Easy-Off.

If that doesn't work, I've used DOT 3 brake fluid before to strip paint . Over night soak then wash w dish detergent. Worth a shot

Thank's Jeff.  If this doesn't work, for the money I'm spending it would be cheaper for me to pick up another kit at HL for $14.95 when they have their 40% off.

Just pulled the body parts out of the Purple Pond.  Parts were in there for a couple days.  Got most of the heavy paint off and I think this is as good as it's going to get.  A good sanding and clean up and I think it's going to be ok.

The plastic feels a little soft so I re-assembled everything to make sure it still fit's ok and it seems fine.

It's looking great Bob. You have inspired me to try a Pro Street mod on a 66 Chevy Fleetside I just got from HL. I will probably ruin a perfectly good kit, but what the heck.

Haha....that's what I thought to James but it's looking ok so far.  I'm having fun with this one.  I have the Revell 66 Chevy Pickup as well in my stash.

Made change to the tubs this morning.  I decided I didn't like the embossed letters in the plastic from the bottom of the pill bottles so I cut some .010 thick Evergreen Polystyrene sheet and glued them on using Mod Podge.  We'll see how it turns out.

I've tried a couple times before using a worn out #11 blade to scribe panel line and I always seem to hack up the body as the blade always slips out of the line.  I got a new scribe and thought I'd give it a try.  Never slipped out once but not sure if I got it deep enough.  I guess I'll find out once I get some paint on the body.

Looking good Bob. Tubs look very nice.

Thank's Greg.  Hope they turn out ok once I shoot some paint on them.

I got the flat white paint on this afternoon.  The body was pretty rough after sanding and scrapping trying to get all the old paint off but all in all I'm pleased with the outcome.  The tubs don't look as good as I was hoping for.  First time for this type of mod so I'll take it I guess.

Hi Bob, this is coming along great! Anything with tubs piques my interest. That latest mock up stance is still killer. Glad you were able to strip the paint successfully. Just a thought for the tubs, if it’s not too late. Take your favourite sanding stick to the edge of the tub that is still protruding and knock it down flush with the piece you added. It looks good as is, but that might give a smoother look? Either way this is super fun watching come together, you’re doing a great job sir. Sounds like you are enjoying stepping outside your comfort zone.

Cheers, Steve

Thanks Steve.  Yeah its probably to late.  Don't want to mess up what I have already.  I now know what not to do next time around.  This has been a fun build so far.  Still need to narrow the rear axle and relocate the shocks and I think I'm home free.

Temp got up to 54° today so I had the green light to do some painting.  I had it up to 70° in the garage.  I got my 60 Ranchero painted and I got the Pearl Clear on the 56.  The pearl clear did not say gloss so I was assuming it would have more of a matt finish.  It came out a little to shiny for what I was going for.  I'll skip the wet sanding and just polish it but it may still come out to shiny.

Looks just fine shiny like it is Buddy?

Thanks Buddy.  Just wish it was more of a Matt finish.
