OldTrucker Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 Decals in the van are shot am going to try and get Red Ball or Bekins decals for the build. 1
Pete68 Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 Very nice. I built a Ertl International 4070A Bekins back in 1992 for the truck I used HO decals and for the trailer I had a print shop make the trailer decals they came out very nice they were made from Vinyl.
OldTrucker Posted January 5, 2022 Author Posted January 5, 2022 Got Bekins decals on the way. Trying to find what rear suspension will work to do a single drive.
Mopar - D Posted January 5, 2022 Posted January 5, 2022 You could use one from the Frightliner SD/DD kit and still have parts to build a DD Frightliner.

OldTrucker Posted January 5, 2022 Author Posted January 5, 2022 Engine built. Forst time I ever started at the begining of an instruction sheet!LOL 1
OldTrucker Posted January 9, 2022 Author Posted January 9, 2022 Getting some subassembly done. Weather too bad to paint outside for a while. May start some assembly on the trailer too. Did get the Bekins decals in the mail though! 1
OldTrucker Posted January 10, 2022 Author Posted January 10, 2022 (edited) Getting some color on the interior. Debating on if the dash should be black or oxblood too. Also tring to figure out how to dull the shine a bit. Edited January 10, 2022 by OldTrucker
Rockford Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 Nice work on the interior. I always thought Astros were very advanced for their time. The way the dash wrapped around the driver.
Bills72sj Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 That is a pretty cool interior. Seeing other peoples builds is making the GMC truck start to grow on me.
Mopar - D Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 Nice progress Johnny. Man that’s definitely a red interior and looks really nice.

Oldmopars Posted January 15, 2022 Posted January 15, 2022 There are 3 (or more) ways to get flat on the interiors. 1. flat clear. I use Rustoleum, but any will work, there are Rattle can options and air brush option. 2. Use Testors or other favorite Matte paint 3. Craft paints are dead flat and work well for interiors. BTW, looking good, these are cool trucks. 1
tbill Posted January 15, 2022 Posted January 15, 2022 This is gonna be a cool build, I’ve got a few bed buggers in the stash with no good decals as well. that interior is fantastic, great job.
OldTrucker Posted January 16, 2022 Author Posted January 16, 2022 Chassis is now green. Mixed my own shade out of Testors enamels. 1
