oldscool Posted March 27, 2022 Posted March 27, 2022 (edited) Hello everyone. Almost everyone has built this kit at some point in their modelling life but I never had this one back in the day. So I built the reissue. I love the extra parts and alternate versions that AMT came up with back then. I wouldn't really call this a race car but more like a competition themed show car. OOB except tires, safety harness and Moon tank. I cut the wrap around portions of the rear bumpers off so they would look like push bars and raised the front end but tried not to overdo it. The paint is Tamiya Orange metallic with two coats of Tamiya clear over the decals. These old kits are what they are but I think the finished product looks pretty cool. Thanks for looking. rrb124@sbcglobal.net Posted March 27, 2022 Posted March 27, 2022 Super clean and photos to match. It looks like it could launch hard at the strip.
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 27, 2022 Posted March 27, 2022 Very nice. Not over the top, but aggressive in a subtle, confident sort of way. 1
bisc63 Posted March 28, 2022 Posted March 28, 2022 Looks nice! What a great color for that 'vette body; it really accentuates all the body sculpting. Not over the top at all. Well done.
alan barton Posted March 28, 2022 Posted March 28, 2022 Like it a lot! Not sure that I have ever seen a Vette in this shade of orange before but it really suits it, especially with the decals you used. Cheers Alan
espo Posted March 28, 2022 Posted March 28, 2022 I like how the great paint job catches the sun in the pictures. You're right about this kit having many different build options and I like the style that you did here.
happy grumpy Posted March 28, 2022 Posted March 28, 2022 A really nice idea on a classic kit. The photos are really good. I like the color too.
TooOld Posted March 28, 2022 Posted March 28, 2022 Looks great to me ! These kits always build up into cool looking Corvettes , well done !
oldscool Posted March 29, 2022 Author Posted March 29, 2022 Thanks for the kind comments everyone. On 3/27/2022 at 8:48 PM, chris chabre said: looks awesome! thats the current reissue? Yes it's the latest reissue and the decals I used are in the box.
slusher Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 Beautiful paint and color. Love a clean build! I built one years ago but in burgundy metallic..
Dennis Lacy Posted April 2, 2022 Posted April 2, 2022 My first model kit was an AMT ‘63 Corvette so I always enjoy seeing them. Love what you did with yours!
Spex84 Posted April 3, 2022 Posted April 3, 2022 Now that's eye-catching! Very nicely sorted. I'd love to get my hands on another AMT '63 vette at some point. I've always loved the design.
