Those big GM cars are usuallly advantaged by lighter colors, that make them seem even longer and wider. I made a very minimalist 65 Grand Prix, which is mostly the same car structure, in pearl silver (see pic below). Tamya's grey primer + Testor's White lightning pearl white lacquer (just 2 coats). The silver hue is provided by the primer underneath. Of course, Watson candy shades could be added at will.

Turned out to be a nice pearl blue. Also did the same for the 41 Plymouth with another Tamiya Japanese Flat aircraft color and it made a nice pearl green.

You may have given me a thought to do just a two tone with flats and White lightning. Thanks!

I really like the custom touches. Especially the hood. I like the two tone idea but I am partial since I own a 1:1 that is two tone. May I suggest metallic brandy wine and metallic gold.

I think it is interesting how plans can change on a build. Probably better said is how things progress without a plan. 

Tonight I taped off the roof and I painted the body in Rustoelum Satin French Blue with the thought that i will give the e tire car a couple of light coats of Testors White Lightning in a couple of days and, perhaps a few decal stripes. Now it is into the dehydrator for the model and off to bed for me.

Rustoleum has some of the best colors. Though I haven't always been a big fan of their paint.

It looks like yours came out nicely though.

I have to agree with you there. I was thinking last night if it might work better to decant and thin the paint a bit then airbrush it. You just get too much from the can.

This morning I'm actually excited about the look of this for probably the first time. I dry fit the grills in it to see what it looked like and i like the ugly thing! Still going to spray a couple of light coats of White Lightning on it to give it a pearl effect.

Earlier today I wetsanded the body again to fix a bit of orange peel. Then I resprayed a coat of blue followed by a couple of light coats of White Lightning.  Tonight I hit it with a couple light coats of clear. I also got the lenses in the tail panel and grill and did a black wash. I added some white craft paint mixed with Future to make the back up lights.

Pecking away at the interior of this tonight. Got the decal for the gauge pod from a sheet in my stash. Added a trim.ring from aluminum tubing. The decals around the door panels are from a rail car sheet I bought back in 2001! Finally using them.

Still a ways to.go on the interior. The dash will be a floating dash to be added later.

The interior is complete! Decaled around the center of the door panels with railcar pinstripes that I've had for years. Painted the center console and the center of the seats in Pearl White. The dash will be a floating dash (attached to the bottom of the glass).

Next is polishing the body and doing BMF. I've been pecking away at the engine. I need to pick up another of these kits to get some vital missing or damaged parts replaced.

Thanks. Got some of the chrome on the body done with Molotow.

Windows are next. Would love to find some.replacement glass for this. Otherwise I'll have to make my own windows.

So, I changed the title of this thread to 65/66 Wildcat because back on page one bisc63 clearly pointed out that the body was a 65 (the chrome vents on the front fenders denote that) but the rest of the kit that I got as a rebuilder is 66. The front grill does not have the round piece in the center and the rear bumper has the date of 1966 stamped in the lisence plate area. That is probably why most of the custom parts did not fit well and needed modified. Oh well!

Anywho, I got most of the chrome done tonight using BMF instead of the Molotow I had originally used. I also deleted the wing windows since the passenger side frame.kept breaking on me. Makes it look much better to me without the wing windows.

Next is new window glass and a new chassis from a fresh kit that I will be getting off of Ebay. Stay tuned!
