Khils Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 I seen that very same thing happen to several packages sent to me! Kinda puts logic to postal fees we've been paying lately. ?
Classicgas Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 Yep. I had a package sent to me from California, it got to my post office, left, went to the east coast, somewhere around Boston, came back and finally got delivered.
NYLIBUD Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 (edited) The USPS,in a word,SUCKS. Edited September 16, 2022 by NYLIBUD
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 I can explain it, but I'd be banned forever.
OldNYJim Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 Ive had a kit stuck at the infamous Chicago Sorting Center for five months - I don’t understand how it can take long to just give a box to customs so they can check it…but apparently this is SOP for this particular location: I only ordered it from overseas because the exchange rate was favorable and this particular kit wasn’t available here at the time… I was lulled into a false sense of security by the NY sorting office who NEVER ONCE failed to release an international shipment to customs in less than 48 hours, regardless of which country it was coming in from…but the Chicago office routinely takes multiple months it seems
Brutalform Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 That’s because there is a clown running the postal service. It’s been terrible ever since he took over. 1

It’s been terrible ever since he took over. It is plain bad management. The people that make the ideas up don't care if the ship sinks, they have a golden parachute. Example, lets ship all of northwest Ohio's mail all the way to Detroit to sort and then send it back. Stupid. Mail that is local does not even stay local anymore.
stitchdup Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 My last ebay parcel came to the uk via guam? still arrived in less than 10 days though, even with a trip around the planet and a previous parcel went via hong kong and tokyo but it took 2 months to arrive
paul alflen Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 1930ford pickup, sounds like they are handling parcels twice? but to ship it back where it came from? Who is making money on this double handling? employees with more overtime? government trucks buying more fuel? truck drivers driving more on the road with less of a load? inefficiecy at it's best!
Brutalform Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 I bought a kit from Pittston Pa, which happens to be only eight miles from me. It took over a week to arrive, and according to tracking it went to four other Pa towns, and left the whole state before arriving. Now I used to drive tractor trailer, and other delivery vehicles for over 25 years, and that is NOT the way it’s done. Just sayin
Pete J. Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 This perfectly explains the post office situation!

Mark Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 Must be a regional thing, maybe doing that to generate more activity in order to keep current staffing levels. I bought an item through eBay on Tuesday. Seller is in Michigan, item is sitting in my mailbox as of a couple of hours ago.
