Kims Kustom Garage Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Well, look closely guys, because this is probably the last time you`ll se a factory stock - or at least a not-hot-rodded - model from me, in a long time ? This is Monograms `37 Ford panel truck, the Bubble gum edition. I had this idea of doing an old insane asylum truck for a long time. I added the wall behind the seats, and made a litlle hatch, with wire mesh. The back door windows also have wire mesh. I made an emergency light on the roof from a headlight from Monograms `39 Chevy. Sanded the glass smooth, painted it flat white on the inside, and made the cross from a Monogram `69 Camaro decal. On the internet I found the old rendering of the Bloomingdale insane asylum, as it looked after it moved to White Plains, New York. Some places on the internet said that it got a new name after moving to White Plains, but other sites still calls it Bloomingdale insane asylum, when it was located in W.P. Anyway I spend some time on my computer, cleaning up the rendering, and I had a small company here in Denmark, print the decals for me. So it is actually the Bloomingdale insane asylum on the rendering on the side of the truck. I also found a time period correct license plate, from New York. So there you have it guys, the Bloomingdale insane asylum ambulance ?? 4
Dave Van Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 (edited) Great idea and work!!!!! I have a plan in the back of my mind to use the 59 Caddy to do a Weston WV asylum transport. Been, as a visitor, to the place!!! Edited October 18, 2022 by Dave Van 3
XYHARRY Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Nice build Kim. It looks like you had the same fitment issues I had at the rear fenders and the back doors. Again, nice 37 panel. Cheers, David. ?? 2

misterNNL Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Great theme build. Those Custom decals seal the deal. 2
crossfire 2004 Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 I really like this kit and have several in my stash, the body to fender fit seems to be a common problem and I found it tricky with my last build. It’s great to see something a bit different done with this kit, I’d have never thought of an asylum ! 3
espo Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 I like the theme and the way this is detailed it does look the like what they may have had for an Ambulance or some sort of patient transportation. The side display and lettering all look great. 2
happy grumpy Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 I like the idea and the results are awesome . The color and livery are perfect. Great job sir. 2
Kit Karson Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 Great examples of insane conceptual inspiration & execution! Great fun!! -KK 1
