happy grumpy Posted October 25, 2022 Posted October 25, 2022 I could build 50 of those, here is a well used but in good condition save the rust and dust, that would be a perfect barn find if only pops would sell it. I learned to drive in one of these , I was 8 years old. Dad modified the pedals so I could reach them. I could barely see in front. A lot of good memories of that truck. I just love how that kit goes together. This was how I remember these, they were already getting old and we saw less and less as they were replaced. Thanks for looking. 4
SpikeSchumacher Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 (edited) Nicely done Mario! Cheers Edited October 26, 2022 by SpikeSchumacher
RAMBENNA Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 sweet build, great job. excellent weathering
Joe Nunes Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 Nicely done! I especially like the debris in the box, faded rubber on the tires and rusted surfaces that were originally painted white. Joe
Street Rod Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 Excellent! Great weathering and detailing. Really like these trucks!
Zippi Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 That is one good looking AD truck Mario. Great weathering. I just love the old Chevy truck man. Wife and I have a 1:1 49 Chevy pickup Restomod that we take to shows.
David G. Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 Very convincing rust and paint effects! There's just something about this kit that cries out to be built in such a manner. I built one almost thirty years ago and did it in a similar fashion. But yours looks much better. David G.
TonyK Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 Your weathering is amazing! Really enjoyed looking at this model. Well done!
stavanzer Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 Great Weathering! I've seen many trucks looking like that on Farms here in the Central Valley. Straight Sheet metal, but killer surface rust. You nailed that look.
steveracer Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 That truck is really sweet. Only thing it needs is a low tire or two...LOL. How did you get the windshield to look delaminated like that? Nice touch.
thatz4u Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 Mario, looks real, like the 100's I've seen in my lifetime..

Thank you Doyle, same here, I always felt a strong connection to these old chevy trucks, having learned to drive in one. 7 hours ago, Zippi said: That is one good looking AD truck Mario. Thanks David, looks like you hit a tree stump with yours. Great crash effects, they sure could take a beating back then. 5 hours ago, TonyK said: Your weathering is amazing! Thanks Alan, I find that a weathered old beater has an artistic quality to it, As much as I appreciate a nice clean and shinny model, I can't resist the urge to depict nature 's inevitable decay from time to time. 3 hours ago, steveracer said: That truck is really sweet. Thank you Steve, The effect was a highly diluted mix of flat clear and very little grey paint applied with an airbrush. 3 hours ago, thatz4u said: Mario, looks real, like the 100's I've seen in my lifetime.. Thanks Al, same here, when I was young, these were starting to disappear, and the ones that remained were getting rarer and rusty. Especially in rural areas where I grew up.
espo Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Great looking finishes and I like the debris in the bed.
NOBLNG Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 Super weathering job Mario! Your models always look so authentic.?

1959scudetto Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 Excellent weathering on this rusty old workhorse, Mario - is this cigarette tobacco in the PU bed (I heard this could be used to simulate autumn leaves)?
Tom Geiger Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 Great truck! I love a weathered old pickup. When I built this kit I had issues getting the front end to sit right. I’ll have to try another

Thanks Helmut. The leaves are ... real leaves chopped in a blender, I did the same trick on my opel blitz truck. On 10/30/2022 at 10:12 AM, Tom Geiger said: Great truck! There was a little bit of flash, enough too throw it off. all the ones I built after went on great. On 10/30/2022 at 10:29 AM, ewetwo said: Wonderful weathering.
