Now that the 41 Panel is in the showcase, it's time to move onto the next stalled project. I have been on and off with this one for about three years. I stalled out with the bmf. My sheet was too old and it was getting frustrating. I now have a new sheet and things are getting better. The added touches on this one are the 1959 Cadillac wheels, engine, and steering column.  It seems that all of my El Camino kits are partial or complete rebuilders. Why is it that everyone must cut the blower hole out of the hood? So I looked around and saw I had a 61 Impala hood. So I sliced and diced...and ended up with this. Here are the components and the direction I am heading with it.

That's looking good Sam! Great to see you finishing up a few of these stalled projects. Now on my way to look at the 41 panel.

Good looking 59 Sam.  I'm about where you are on my 59.  That is a lot of bmf on this model and I've been puttin mine off.

I like the look of the '61 hood grafted into the '59 hood. The styling on either side of the center ridge adds a lot of interest, and if it was a 1:1 it probably would have prevented the flapping that these often had. Built a '59 El Camino a while ago, hope you have enough foil for all the trim.

I finally am calling it quits with the foil work. Not my best by any means, but good enough for who it's for.

Nice work so far Sam. Following.

My job has taken me out to Newberg a few times. I always think of you as I drive by Toledo.

I have thought about stopping by but figured it would be impolite to do so with an invitation.

Just pm me the times and dates, we can make it work. Hobby room is cluttered, to put it nicely, but always a different clutter ?

Finally, progress!

I'm calling the interior done. Flocking didn't turn out the way I wanted, but hey, you won't see much anyway.

I missed this added feature at first glance, and espo is right on about it!

Looks really good from what I can see under the dash, has the effect of a woven carpet.

Dan,Dan, Dan Dan Dan!!!

You can hijack anytime with a pic like that. ?  I love the color combo and that the dash is all trimmed out with Impala trim as well as the wheel. ?

Our family has had a total of four different '59s. My grandfather bought a Belair sedan brand new. My older brother had an Impala hardtop as a teenager. My dad had an Impala convertible when I was young, and I had a Biscayne sedan for awhile.  My grail is the Elcamino.

This was my inspiration. It has '59 Corvette steering wheel, wheel covers, and fuel injection.
