Paul Payne Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 Super build! Exhaust system looks great- not much restriction- properly noisy hot rod exhaust!
mchook Posted June 9, 2023 Author Posted June 9, 2023 Thanks guys! It's been a while since I had time to work on this & take pictures but I did manage to get a few things done. The chassis is almost complete and the body is painted. I'm going for a Race of Gentlemen look. 7
slusher Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Great looking project Mark, just found it. Â Love your build!
customline Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 That coupe looks absolutely real. Great rust on the welds! Love it, love it, love it.
Straightliner59 Posted June 10, 2023 Posted June 10, 2023 Just awesome! There is nothing not to like, here! Great job!
David G. Posted June 10, 2023 Posted June 10, 2023 That's a good, solid looking chassis. I like the inclusion of brake lines, nice touch. David G.

Among those are 6 Stromberg carbs with the vintage frog mouth scoops. They’re beautifully rendered. Below is the box to look for. And, Tweety Pie 2 1
Kit Karson Posted June 10, 2023 Posted June 10, 2023 No bones about it, Mark you have an eye for adding authentic details and an excellent execution style to match! -KK
Sam I Am Posted June 10, 2023 Posted June 10, 2023 Nice coupe! All that work is really paying off. My dad had an overhead valve banger in a 30 coupe when he was younger. At 70mph he would break a piston skirt every time. He said it got to the point he could put a new piston in it in 30min on the side of the road. ? I don't know that I would want to go 70 with mechanical brakes. ?
Dennis Lacy Posted June 10, 2023 Posted June 10, 2023 18 minutes ago, Kit Karson said: And, Tweety Pie 2 Negative. That kit has trumpet style air scoops. Revell specifically re-tooled the carbs with scoops for the restored last issue. Several other parts as well. ?
Dennis Lacy Posted June 10, 2023 Posted June 10, 2023 @mchook Wow, man, that overhead ‘banger is looking TUFF! Killer work on the weathering, too!Â
horsepower Posted June 11, 2023 Posted June 11, 2023 17 hours ago, Kit Karson said: And, Tweety Pie 2 I knew that the frog mouth tops for the old 97s came in the latest retool of the Tweedy Pie, but didn't know they were in the Tweedy Pie II kit, the only things that I found in mine were the velocity stack type with just a flared top on them. I might just be over looking them, not a new thing for these eyes. But I haven't been able to find anything to clear up the haze and make sure they can see better.?? 1

He was incorrect, the Tweedy Pie II does NOT have the frog mouth scoops. The carbs with integral frog mouths had to be retooled (along with several other parts) to restore the latest issue back to the original Tweedy Pie. The newly tooled parts are on a separate sprue in a separate bag because they were made in China while the rest of the kit continued to be made here in the USA.Â

mchook Posted June 17, 2023 Author Posted June 17, 2023 I'm calling it done. More under glass soon. 5
Straightliner59 Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 It's really cool! I like the dinged-up megaphone tip on the header. Nice work, Mark!
bill-e-boy Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 Killer. Good weathering and attention to detail right down to the bent wire battery hold downs
Rattlecan Dan Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 Great realistic looking throwback! Fine job of detail and weathering. Now that's great modeling. Thanks for posting.
David G. Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 Whenever someone uses the word "Jalopy" (which is hardly ever these days) this is almost exactly the image that appears in my mind. Nicely Done! David G.
