stitchdup Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 Cool custom, removing the roof gives it a pretty fresh look
atomicholiday Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 Sweet ride! It doesn't get much cooler than a '59 El Camino.
1972coronet Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 I'm digging that six popper ! Is that from the 1951 Bel Air kit ? Nice Vice Grip Garage licence plates ! Haha !
Classicgas Posted May 8, 2023 Author Posted May 8, 2023 Thanks. The 6 is based on the one from the 60 Chevy pickup. 1
Rattlecan Dan Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 First Custom! That's absolutely great. You've nailed it all! Thanks for the post.
Classicgas Posted May 8, 2023 Author Posted May 8, 2023 Thanks. It was fun. Got another, a 53 Ford pickup in the works.
rickcaps55 Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 Awesome build love the color and i really love the built up in-line 6 nice.
radiohd10 Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 looks great!! - i have one in the stash but it seems like a ton of work. any pitfalls to look out for?
Classicgas Posted May 8, 2023 Author Posted May 8, 2023 Thanks. Rear axle is tricky. Well it was for me, I used real springs. Also, tail gate fit when closed is iffy. Could be a paint thickness issue. Otherwise pretty straightforward.
happy grumpy Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 Great Camino. I love that shade of color. Smooth finish. I like the idea of a in line six and the tires and wheels look cool.
bisc63 Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 Sharp build! Love the choice of 6-banger, and a beautiful shade of gold. What paint is that?
Sam I Am Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 Very unique, and as others already said, love the six banger. You will have to ask Tim Boyd, but I remember an issue of S.A.E that showcased a few topless pickups. I might still have that issue laying around.
Andy Oldenburg Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 A cool build! Paint job very fine and the color fits perfect. Nice ideas around the roof and engine. And the bench looks sharp!?
Classicgas Posted May 9, 2023 Author Posted May 9, 2023 Thanks all. I really don't remember what the color is, other than it was Testors. The upholstery decal was a prototype by speedway Decals. Give em a holler if you like it. I have that issue of SAE. Have every one from June 92 to the end. 1
