This kit was purchased specifically for my Martini collection and is my first Model Factory Hiro resin.   Must say I really liked this  kit. Well engineered . This car was driven bt Helmut Marko and Rudy Lins in the 1970 Lemans.  They placed third.  Model is painted with Tamiya LP2 white overall with Mr Color #3 Red and #4 yellow.  There are a few added details as described under the photos. Thanks for looking and comments welcome.DSC08131.JPG.2e84afd59f31d21cc760f53b9b703d7f.JPG

Finished kit on my new Watkins Glen background.   Kit wheels are poseable. This was done about 4yrs ago and not part of the kit.  Wheels are painted Tamiya Dark Iron. DSC08133.JPG.fff8b5a28c38b7dfd726a0a630202179.JPG

Rear view.  There is an engine in there but no suspension detail.  The rear flap adjusters are 2mm pieces of black tape with PE nuts.DSC08135.JPG.c5fefc968d4906a8be271730df21a325.JPG

Those rear fins gave me some trouble as well as the green strips. Overall the decals were outstanding and had a nice shine to them.DSC08140.JPG.ef964949f6195f6ca327b991a6052c4e.JPG

Cockpit detail was a little sparse but had some nice PE seatbelts. I added the small wind screen and PE fasteners. There was lots of great body details ion this kit.

Very nice, Rich - a colorful model;  they won the 3-litre prototype class (and 3rd overall) with this car beating the 5-litre Ferrari 512 S .

A missing link in my stash (I had the UMi resin kit in the early 90's, but sold it off some years ago)

Thank you Helmut..it was a nice kit. That had to be quite the accomplishment. As you know I went after this kit for my Martini collection.  More than likely it is discontinued.  If I spot one I will give you a heads up.

Excellent build Rich.  I don't have the MFH kit but it certainly is a worthy choice for your Martini collection.  The background is a nice fit too.

I think what Rich has treated is to is a rare 24th sc MFH semi curbside kit  - Rich - did you take a shot of the engine before you completed this ?   I was under the impression that the kit did not have a complete engine …

Very very nice Rich. Beautiful color combo. Does this kit include a full chassis & powertrain as we usually see with MFH?

Thank you Pierre....The kit is mostly curbside...there is enough engine and transmission to locate the rear axle and that's about it.

Andy... you are correct.  The engine is only the basic block. nicely detailed transmission, air cooling cover, 2 long exhaust pipes and brace and the intake trumpets that protrude through the body. Not enough to take a pic but I still can since the body and chassis are held together with 4 screws.  Model is currently on display at my local hobby shop.

Very nice, Rich!  I’m not sure that I have ever seen this model before.  Interesting subject and you’ve modeled it well.

Great coincidence as I was watching the movie LeMans last night. Was the 917 the immediate predecessor to the 908, or were there other 900 series in between? I really like the model and presentation. Is that the same Helmut Marko who is part of the Red Bull team?

Thank you John....the 908 was very active in the late 60's and early 70's. There have been several models of the 908 series and most are now discontinued. This is one of the better examples.

Bill...the 908 in both spyder and berlinetta were 8cyl   3 litre  prototypes and the 917  followed the design with a 12cyl  5 liter.  And yes this is the same Helmut Marko.  Incidentally Steve McQeen  wanted to race in the 1970 LeMans but the deal fell through. Don't know the specifics.

That's an awesome build Rich.  MFH do beautiful kits but I have yet to shout myself one.  So many too choose from and so little time (literally speaking)

Tks for sharing.

Dave....considering what you start with in resin and the beautiful models you turn out.....if you were to tackle an MFH kit I think you would breeze right through it.

Very cool build, Rich. A lovely model of an awesome race car. Everything looks great. Very nicely done.

Thank you Trevor.   Porsche race cars of the early 70's were something else.
